Kante SHITS on Khedira in impact on the pitch, its not even close. He was THE key midfield cleaner in two championship winning teams in back to back seasons in EPL with leicester and Chelsea (yeah player of the season couple years ago, what was Khedira doing then?), while Khedira is a black hole of effort for us, he is figuratively HOLDING US BACK in CL, we cant compete with him there as starter, whatsoever...
Pogba is EASILY the better player then Kante, but Kante is the best DM in the game. I'm not petty, you been saying for 2-3 years Kante is essentially shit, Lemina, Khedira, Matic (nowhere near to DM kante shown he is even ALONG side eachother), Moussa the joke ass Sissoko, essentially ANYONE who wants mentionned alongside Kante, you said they were better then kante. He has no attacking qualities (except good with running the ball in transition), Pogba is better. But trust me when I say, zizinho has ZERO objectivity about Kante. Goes back for years, I mean even Zacheryah would admit he been wrong about Kante after all these years (both were arguing Lemina is better just after Kante joined from div2 french club, wins league title with shit small club, and is voted best player in the league as a DM...), but zizinho never wont. Anyone who is named next to Kante will be argued to be better then Kante in his eyes.
I have no idea tbh, maybe you're right. Hadn't really noticed. But I must admit I find all this Kante praise a bit over the top too. Maybe not for France, but definitely for Chelsea and before that Leicester.
Our team right now would be much better if we had Kante instead of Khedira or Matuidi (not half the ball winner Kante is). Even if I do prefer more complete all around players too.
where was Kante at age 22? without googling it. Lemina was excellent for (wherever we sold him) before his injury, hes a better offensive player already, once he gets that experience and tactical awareness that his position requires, i wont exclude him surpassing Kante. and we all saw that "player of the season" exposed at last Euro, so dont give me that

Yeah, I can understand that much. He's essentially also not really my type of player. Like you say, teams in the modern game don't want specialists like him anymore. I think the midfield I liked best in recent years was Pogba-Vidal-Pirlo. That was a thing of absolute beauty. For me a player like Kante prevents that.

To be fair I have no idea whatsoever where Kante played before Leicester. Probably some mediocre French side.
EDIT: aged 22 Kanté was playing in the French third division for US Boulogne.

Pirlo was the specialist in that midfield, yes. Pure playmaker. But if given the choice between a pure playmaker and a pure DM, I'd much rather watch the playmaker. Pirlo v Kante is no contest for me tbh.

It matters, because he meant that Lemina could improve a lot.
Obviously in hindsight it matters a lot less, because we know now that Lemina didn't improve.
Kante is no Vidal, but he is wins balls and runs for 2 people like Vidal did defensively, and that would free up Pjanic and ALL our attackers so much if we had that element in our team. We have that for Matutidi now, and he is useful tactical element in terms of pressuring runs, but his ball winning is too lacking for the technical limitations he has for us. WAY behind a Vidal or Kante in that aspect.
To be honest I am not a fan. This was his breakthrough season, this season was actually the first in which he became somewhat of a starter. But the only reason he started a lot of games this season was due to a mixture of defenders being poor, and injuries which caused Rudy Garcia to shift Gustavo from DM to CB for a large chunk of the season. As a result Zambo Anguissa started getting a lot of games. To be honest he did have a good season as a DM, but I do not see anything special in him that would suggest to me he can make the step forward to a big team. He has average technique, he is not a particularly good passer and he has average football intelligence. His physical qualities are obviously impressive, and he's a strong tackler but for me thats about it when it comes to his strengths.
The next great Ligue DM? Not for me, last season he would not have started for neither Monaco (Fabinho and Moutinho) or Lyon (Tousart, who is IMO a more promising and better young DM).

ok, where to start. where did Chelsea finish this season? after they lost their true MVP midfielder Matic, as i already mentioned a year ago, they couldnt even qualify for CL places FFS. meanwhile, the team that bought Matic finished 2nd. too bad Kante didnt have another MVP year, right?Khedira holding us back
