one is a RB, the other a RM
Both are RMs/RWBs. Dani Alves type of players. Cuadrado is a bit more clutch going forward in our system, but he isn't a Bernardeschi/Costa player.

If we are going to play in a 433 with an offensive RB(and not the Barzagli type we love so much) Cuadrado could be that player and so could Cancelo. Players like Can are supposed to anchor our midfield and relieve our wide defenders.

We are never going with a 442 next season, unless we are playing someone similar to Pogba/Matuidi as an LM.

Cuadrado will never be a RB under Max, he was forced to use him once or twice and if he liked the idea, he would have tried to make him one by now. Cancelo is a legit RB, been so his whole life basically, but he can also play as a wide midfielder or attacker - still, that doesent make him one.

This will be the most interesting mercato in years. We're in for a MAJOR overhaul of the squad. And since we don't have a billion euros to spend, I seriously fear a decline..

Mario was WC there tho, as good as he was a CF, many times even better. doubt Cancelo will do better at RM than RB
who woulda thought mario would have had one wc season as a winger? never say never is all i'm saying. can't discredit a guy with an idea when last year no one woulda thought mario would have been a great winger

I was just reading his Wiki page. Apparently at Wolfsburg, Steve McClaren used him as left winger while playing (guess who) as the CF.

Dzeko :D

Don't think Mario excelled as a winger the first time though.

Cancelo is the same type as Alves, and Alves himself wasnt a better RM than RB.

The key being 'under Max'? You cannot sensibly start both even in a 442 as they are too similar.

The forward going RB 'Max' has used include Dani Alves and MDS () . Dani Alves was similarly deployed further forward many times, while Barza (a true CB if god ever created one) was playing RB position for us. As I said Cuadrado and Cancelo play the same style, almost the same position and will overlap too often. Would Allegri change our system, I hope so - but won't include both.
BTW while Candreva is different, I think his problems are similar in Inter with Cancelo. He will be better suited to a more defensive RB and a 442.

Ergo - one of them yes, both NOT a chance.

Also if next season we are without the wide targetman role that Mandzukic plays for us - life would be very different for the Cuadrado spot (if there is life at all ).

we played 3421 and 352 with DA playing RWB many times, but that has nothing to do with this. we played 352 early in the season, it was our go to formation. later in the season we went for 4231, but when Cuads got injured and later returned out of form, we didnt have any other option to play RM for us, which is why we then went with the 3412 with AS and DA wide.

not to mention, Cuadrado isnt even a starter anymore, its Costa who we play at RW/RM. and Cuadrado did play with DA in the same lineup many times, but cant do the same with Cancelo? dont see why that would be the case.

anyway, we are gonna need a RB in the summer, and since Cuadrado clearly isnt going to be it (unless we somehow end up with Guardiola), i would definitely take Cancelo if inter doesent exercise their option. there arent many quality RBs on the market, so this one might be our only chance for improvement

Neither was Pogba himself before he arrived.
Pogba was a 18-19 year old kid
