Winning breeds winning, Real Madrid have nailed it in the CL in the last 5-6 years and it has created supreme confidence.

Real Madrid's wage bill is still over €100m more than ours, that's 2-3 world class players and a better quality bench difference.

What they have done is definitely impressive with young players, but you're also adding them to a team that wasn't built in a few seasons, Real Madrid have been in a league vying with the best Barcelona era in history for a good 12 years. It also helps that the generation of Spanish players has been fantastic for some time. How can Juve do that? Real Madrid and Barcelona can buy any Spanish player they want. Italy doesn't have that talent, doesn't have the money to hold onto them, and loyalty is split between more teams.

What Real Madrid do well is balance the books well - buy high profile players of the right age, so even "flops" sell well. There is also an added prestige for the buying club from them. We buy more older players (because of budget), more useful in our league, little sell-on value.
 definitely true. its incredible how much talent they added for pocket change really, they dont even need their most expensive player and still look this dominant.

youre also right about us, given our position and status, we have done quite well ourselves past few years. we have a solid base to build upon, we now need to find the players with the right characteristics to improve the team. Bentancur and Caldara are a good start, a few more are needed tho

250m, 500m i don't care. If we don't spend we stay in the same position.
At least you are being reasonable. Every fan of a team simply says "spend loads of money" when things go badly, it's not a genuine answer to difficult questions. The management have to find real world solutions. Can we spunk a load of money at it? No. Can we spent an affordable amount of money and notably improve the squad? Probably not. Answer is signing younger player and mid-age players from smaller teams than us who can be improved.

I even saw Bonucci say it to Milan's directors. "Buy top players". Ok, Leo, I'll just pull this money off the magic money tree. That isn't advice, it's pub talk, utopia. Totti said the same, "I'd buy top players for Roma". No, you wouldn't. While us peasant fans sit and dream people at the club have to figure something that works between the shareholders, business and team on the field.

That Kroos shot off the bar got me thinking...we have no midfield threats from distance (not talking about free kicks). Zero. Add to the problems we have when we get into the box our plan falls apart because we are clueless with ideas near goal.

We really need a midfielder that can score from distance regularly or at least get the ball on goal to force a save.

Bentancur is particularly terrible at it :D Pjanic also has some horrible shots from range, can't remember the last goal from open play.

Costa. he needs to receive the ball closer to the box tho, not far out on the side

That’s why I was thinking about it. When he cracked the post I couldn’t remember the last decent shot from a CM that even was well struck.

Makes signing Can all that more critical. We need that added value (like pogba/Vidal) could crack em from distance
