Shop at Real Madrid, there clearly is a lot of talent that's not being used.

This summer is the most crucial, because we could slowly lose our appeal if we don't step it up.

Then next time we play them we can lose 1 or 2-0 instead with that inside knowledge. :tuttosport:

As for appeal, that ship has sailed. We don't have the aggressive marketing and money of the PL, and we don't have the prestige of the 'Big 3' of Barca-Madrid-Bayern.
We also typically play embarrassing football until we need a goal and no offensive players are lining up to join us and spend 80 minutes outside our box in most big games.

That Kroos shot off the bar got me thinking...we have no midfield threats from distance (not talking about free kicks). Zero. Add to the problems we have when we get into the box our plan falls apart because we are clueless with ideas near goal.

We really need a midfielder that can score from distance regularly or at least get the ball on goal to force a save.
So lets get fabinho, on a serious note though, how many midfielders do you know are a constant threat from distance? I know hardly any, I can't imagine Kroos would be able to replicate of better that shot if he tried another 10 times

Kroos has always had a great shot, lethal if given too much time on the ball.

At least you are being reasonable. Every fan of a team simply says "spend loads of money" when things go badly, it's not a genuine answer to difficult questions. The management have to find real world solutions. Can we spunk a load of money at it? No. Can we spent an affordable amount of money and notably improve the squad? Probably not. Answer is signing younger player and mid-age players from smaller teams than us who can be improved.

I even saw Bonucci say it to Milan's directors. "Buy top players". Ok, Leo, I'll just pull this money off the magic money tree. That isn't advice, it's pub talk, utopia. Totti said the same, "I'd buy top players for Roma". No, you wouldn't. While us peasant fans sit and dream people at the club have to figure something that works between the shareholders, business and team on the field.
Thats all and true, but despite all our profit and continued growth, its all futile if we miss the window to take the next step when opportunies present themselves, sometimes you just need to spend big to take that leap. And not just by selling big first as we keep doing, which tends to be taking step back same time you try to go to next level.

For example, our midfield right now is our biggiest joke, the best available player in that field who is young and outside a top club plays in Lazio, what does it take for us to sign him? We need him badly, preferably without weakening ourselves big in other area.

We wouldnt need him if we hadnt sold Pogba and Vidal, but what can you do, we are a team thats ok with being a high class stepping stone for now, but to stop being short changed in biggiest level, we need to put the breaks on that. For example, do not sell Dybala just to sign SMS, would just lead to a vicious cycle of us spending coming years of how to replace Dybala and how it is impossible task and inevitable or foolish to sell him etc.

This is smth i dont get. We didnt sell anyone under Conte. And Allegri got the best out of that team in his first season and we go further in CL under Allegri so we should earn more money under Allegri in terms of prize and commercial money + tv money. Yet we sell one starter every summer since 2015. Why. When we do better in europe now. Yes the players we signed under Conte were largely cheap like Tevez, Pirlo, Evra etc but we didnt sell anyone. Now we sell 1 from XI and therefore never manage to keep the core. Real hasnt sold starters. They sell depth or players who are not in manager books like James for Zidane. Ok Real has lot of financial power but we will never win with this model in europe AND the competition will only get harder with the likes of City & psg never having to worry about finance.

Who knows the milan clubs might start outspending us regularly and eventually smth changes as in our core getting old and we needing time to rebuild. Then it wont be all that easy in league either.

We missed our opportunity already i feel.

Its very possible we missed our opportunity, but for now its paramount that we STOP our foolish policy of selling key players and hope for the best with mini-reboots for the team. Add to the strength of the team, not reshuffle, clearly its not enough to compete with in CL so far.
