Thats all and true, but despite all our profit and continued growth, its all futile if we miss the window to take the next step when opportunies present themselves, sometimes you just need to spend big to take that leap. And not just by selling big first as we keep doing, which tends to be taking step back same time you try to go to next level.

For example, our midfield right now is our biggiest joke, the best available player in that field who is young and outside a top club plays in Lazio, what does it take for us to sign him? We need him badly, preferably without weakening ourselves big in other area.

We wouldnt need him if we hadnt sold Pogba and Vidal, but what can you do, we are a team thats ok with being a high class stepping stone for now, but to stop being short changed in biggiest level, we need to put the breaks on that. For example, do not sell Dybala just to sign SMS, would just lead to a vicious cycle of us spending coming years of how to replace Dybala and how it is impossible task and inevitable or foolish to sell him etc.
All well and good but Lotito isn't selling him to us and he'll cost more than we can afford, so it's a case of reverting to my original point. What would it take? A magic money tree.

I suppose it is pretty sad that the next potential top midfielder is suddenly €100m minimum. We performed miracles with the signings of Vidal and Pogba but eventually you run out of chances for those moves, especially when PL clubs from 1-20 can buy them instead.

Every player that comes in from know on should either be a top player, or be a young player who has the technique to become one. No more wasting money on good/ mediocre squad fillers and no more young players that are promising but dont have that something extra to become a starter here.

That means we should not “waste” money on a Cristante, Pellegrini or Barella, who are promising players but will never become top players, and no more wasting money on a Bonaventura, who is a good player but not a starting material player for a club with aspirations to win the CHL.

Fake fans just don't value a good old 0-3 CL KO trashing at home anymore :agree:

Awww, poor lgor. Grow a pair.

The success of sports franchises goes in cycles. The team isn't going to win scudetti in perpetuity, it's not going to make the final every other season. Not to mention that tournament football is a bit of a crap shoot. A team needs a ton of factors to go their way to win the Champions League.

The club is in a transition period, one where management is going to have to phase out a lot of crucial players from a legendary period in the club's history. A club that has had massive historical success, and been around since 1897. We do have some pretty solid replacements already in house -- a couple of whom are currently playing at a higher level than their replacements.

Management has done a very good job keeping this club competitive at the highest level, and I think they'll be able to recognize and address the major shortcomings this summer. To be honest, given where we were in October, I'm surprised the club has done as well as it has to this point.

It's not about fake fans, it's about spoiled fucking whingers who expect results to be handed to them year after year. Life doesn't work like that.

All of this doom and gloom talk, the knee jerking and over-reacting is ridiculous. The club is still pretty well positioned for the future. Obviously CLs titles won't be easy given the current financial state of world football -- and UEFA should really do something about the out of control spending -- but CL titles weren't easy to win before the current state of financial affairs, either.

Beyond that, if anybody thought it likely that the current edition of Juventus was going to go on a run to the final, they've been huffing glue. Folks who watch this club week-in and week-out, who start their day by checking club news, should obviously not be shocked that the best club in the world over the last 4-5 years beat us (with a brain cramp early goal, and one of the nicest strikes we'll ever see). What is that, anyway, 5 losses at home since the stadium opened? Something ridiculous like that?

Time to focus on the league, putting in a respectable performance in the second leg, and the Coppa. Still plenty of success to be had this year.

Who you have in mind?
Depends on what formation we are planning to play next year, who is the coach and what style of football are we planning on playing.

Of the players we are linked with I think players like SMS, Fabinho, Giménez, Sidebe, Martial, Fekir obviously fits the bill. I like a player like Torreira from Sampdoria as well. A player like Harit from Schalke or Brandt from Leverkusen is very interesting.

Yeah, it's pretty disgusting.
How can you be so deluded after so many reality checks? What drugs are you on exactly? Or are you just a bot stringing together some buzzwords into an incoherent ramble?

Its embarrasing.

I want this season to end already. The mercato will be more interesting than anything this season has still to offer.

7-1 in 2 games vs Real. Roma-esque scores. A thousand scudetti won't change this humiliation
10-1 in our last four games against Spanish opponents

I can accept that Real Madrid and Barcelona are better than us; but the fact that Sevilla or Valencia probably would have put up a better fight than we did in those 4 games is a hard pill to swallow.

And rightfully so. Our most important game of the season, and we got destroyed, displaying alarming apathy and a lack of will upon conceding the 2nd goal. We lacked Grinta and fight.

But hey, I guess you're one of those who takes comfort in the secutiy blanket of Serie A, where we can mask our deficiencies and beat up on inferior opposition.
No, I'm just more stoic about it.

Yesterday's game didn't reveal anything new about our quality and technical weaknesses. Only thing it revealed was we still choke when the going gets tough in the big CL games (and this is for another thread).

So, a lot of new yelling and screaming, overreactions, and wrong analyses in the mercato thread all of a sudden doesn't make much sense but is the norm. At least not many "heads must roll, Allegri and Marotta must be fired" comments this time, I'm surprised.

Odd that people think signing SMS is easy as if real life is like FM, are worried about who Napoli will sign as if Torreira will take us to next level, and after 7 years still don't know how the club is run and lack perspective. Heard the same thing in 2015 about how our "run" ended, that that was it, and then we reached another final 2 yrs later. Our squad has been getting better and better every year. Everything isn't right when we win 3-0 just like everything isn't wrong when we lose 3-0. There's a thing called balance.

There are obvious issues like CM (main ones being injuries and aforementioned mentality, which are for diff threads), so it begins is in reference to the usual everything else.

1.) Our squad is ageing
2.) The Old Guard lack the winning DNA in Europe
3.) Fullbacks will become an issue once we sell Sandro
4.) Midfield is still pathetic
5.) Keeping our best players is imperative; build on what you have instead of destroying it

Yay or Nay?

1) Buffon & Chiellini are a yr older, but didn't know about this before the Real game?

2) Yes. Didn't entertain this thought before the Real game?

3) RB already an issue now (MDS wasn't good vs Real) mainly due to Howedes injury. If AS leaves, maybe we'll sign a good replacement (we usually do). Wait and see first. Did you start panicking about this all of a sudden post-Real or were already doing so before?

4) This news is 7 months old. Improved (on paper) from last yr, but yeah, still subpar. Not many options last summer but should've signed N'Zonzi, not Matuidi. The one mistake.

5) This isn't FM. It's RL. Most clubs usually don't keep unmotivated players. AS has been average and inconsistent this season. LOL at forcing Bonucci to stay. Again, this complaint is nothing new, don't see why its frequency has been increased 10-fold after Real game. Give the ad nauseam everything sucks, about to commit harakiri crap a break.

Alright. You seem like a self entitled cunt, and your arrogant attitude, laced with sarcasm, in responding to my questions only serves to exacerbate the issue. I'm not engaging in any more discussions with you. @Django was right about you :sigh:
