I get your point but except PSG no other top team has done anything remarkable or sign a WC player this summer.

As for a CM/DM who would you sign from the players available?
Still, there were some great transfers.

From the players we've been linked to... call me crazy but I think Strootman without injuries would be one of the best moves in Europe. If I had a guarantee he'll stay injury-free I'd easily go after him without thinking twice. However, his injuries are really a killer.

So, if we ignore him for that sole reason, I'd go after N'Zonzi.

Matuidi would be my third choice as I'm really not a fan of Can from Liverpool.

Sad fact: I think we need somebody who's better than all of the mentioned above.

We need someone like Matuidi because we don't have a physical presence in midfield, yet he won't help us with the problem of our difficulty getting the ball out of the back. Pjanic can't do that on his own it seems... Marchisio is good at it though. So... Max is gonna have a tough time finding the right balance.

I hate the fact we're trying to push for a formation that is not suited for us.

I think it's going to be a huge setback for us.

I love Higuain.

But I would have sold him if the rumors were true. He's gonna be 30 and apparently the bid was 100mln.

We could literally buy SMS and N'Zonzi. Or SMS and a new RB. We'd be a lot stronger imo.
We'd get to use Dybala in his real position too.

Plus we'd get to not leave one of our best players on the bench due to "incompatibility" with Pjanic. Which I don't really agree with, but if Max says so, whatever. Although at this point, if I had to choose between the two, Marchisio should start based on form (and also his ability to bring the ball out of defence [plus he's a better DM])

You all need to chill. Clubs with similar or bigger budgets than ours like Bayern (only James loan), Real (some no names after winning CL and selling Morata for 80mln), Barca (Semedo and freaking Paulinho for 40mln), Liverpool (Salah only), Tottenham (nobody and they sold K. Walker for 50mln pounds) have had a worse transfer campaigns than us.

But they don't need the repairs that we badly need. Real are just amazing, Liverpool will do good but they are not a top team anymore while Tottenham is already strong and don't need much. They did sell Walker but they are playing some kid who seems impressive. Barca will buy players.

Still, none of them are in a need to fix their team badly as we are. None of them suffered a loss in defense, literally losing 2 of their starters while also neither of those teams are as fragile in mid as we are.

Tak!

Chelsea's lack of depth will cause trouble as well, although time will tell what they do next.
Non-CL, so it makes sense, but Arsenal is sort of same-same but older.
Monaco, more or less same-same.
Roma and Napoli, same-same.
PSG, improved.
Red devils, improved.
Meelan, improved.

We lost two starting players from a team that made it to CL final a few months ago. One was old and annoying, would likely have caused issues during the season. The other one is one of our poorest defenders but obviously of great importance for possession and direct moves. The latter will be missed, but I hope our strong defense will become even more strong.

Meelan will need time to find their way with so many arrivals. We should win this season as long as keep continuity and come close to our potential. It shouldn't be a problem. I hope we give Rugani a starting spot in the absence of Bon. His distribution is decent and he is a good defender with potential.

If we want to take the next step we need a bully for CM and it seems there are none available. Can is not the one, although I like him. I'd rather take Keita as a freebie next season and go all in on a WC RB.

I had a slim hope that we could actually improve the team this mercato to get another go at the CL, Bayern style.

I think it is safe to say that hope is gone.

Bonucci and specially Alves altered Beppe plans and now we are in this situation.

No reason to panic yet because we are still too strong for Serie A and with a favorable draw in the last 16 I can see us reaching semifinals. But that's it. If we somehow win the CL is gonna be pure luck. Basically a gift from the Gods.
