Only way you can have a great mercato is when all areas of your team is well and truly covered. The only way to add great depth is to bring in better players than what we have. Increase competition within the positions. Buy a top CM that could possibly bench the Marchisio's or Khedira's Not having cheap shit like Lemina or Rincon ffs.

Lemina and Rincon were not this mercato. That's last season's mess. Its not easy to find a better midfielder than Khedira and almost impossible to find a better one than a fit Marchisio. Opportunities haven't really presented themselves this summer so far.

Alves was never part of any defensive core. He played like 5 good games at right back, the rest were up the wing. Only Bonucci did that but we are ready for this, our CBs are all great.

We majorly strengthened the attack which is great. In midfield, signing Bentancur looks like a good move that may pay off soon. Szceszny is a great addition, best back up keeper in the world for sure, he was huge last season.

Its been a very good mercato. A bunch of talented players that aren't 30+ year old who would be past their prime soon. Bernardeschi, Costa, Szceszny, De Sciglio, Bentancur is great. That's quite a haul. If we hadn't lost Bonucci it would be amazing, 4 of those signings could very well be starters by next season, maybe 3 of them this season already. That's a lot of quality, a lot of youth and a lot of promise.

Juve has been transitioning from the old core. The transition was made great by buying older players that could patch up things right away in the short term. Now we are building a new core. After next summer when some of the oldies retire I expect much less movement than we are seeing. Our younger players (of which we have many) will have been ready to be our new main guys.

Well said, our offensive buys plus gk schezny has been good, i agree, but at The same time we have ageing backs: especially licht and asamoah. They Are simply not good ekough anymore. This is my major concern. Our offensive line Looks good, but our wingbacks Are clearly not of The same Quality, There is an imbalance There that needs to be fixed.

I agree. Asamoah is useless and Licht sadly cannot do it anymore for too long a stretch of games. Sandro (obviously) and De Sciglio will do us good. Spinazzola is coming next summer at the latest so it doesn't make sense to sign another left back right now. We'll see about Licht, he is at least defensively dependable so we may run his contract down this season.

Juventus acted relatively quickly to get Costa, Szczesny, De Sciglio and Bernardeschi after having lost Bonucci and Alves.

The news flow is slowing down. That is because absolute worst case scenario we have reasonable depth already. Assuming Dybala and Sandro both stay, then I get the feeling that Marotta is not keen on spending too much on new players.

Matuidi seems the preffered option right now given he could potentially arrive for maybe less than 20m - but he would probably be on only a 3-4 year contract given his age - so his cost to the club would still be EU12-14m a year assuming he gets a salary of around 3.5m net (7m gross).

Keita. (Assuming Dybala stays), I can only see this happening if we are prepared to let Cuadrado go. Having 8 forwards for 4 positions would set a new precedent for Juve and an unconditional commitment to the 4231. In this market I could see Cuadrado going for 30-40m. Problem is that Cuadrado is versatile in that he can cover the entire right flank if required whereas Keita is more of a striker or attacking winger.

Right Back. Cancelo seems to be worth around 25m but he doesn't quite convince me from those youtube vids - and he seems stronger going forward than in defence and in terms of his attacking he seems to be fairly 1 dimensional. Then again, not easy for me to judge purely on those vids.

I have a gut feeling that we wont be doing any deals until the last week of the mercato. Expect things to be slow for the next few weeks.

Youre right about cancelo. But name me one fullback that people consider a topclass fullback, that can actually defend? Only one in My mind is Alex sandro?

Modern fullbacks are transformed wingers, who was missing the last pounch to become wq wingers. Cancelo is no weaker defender than most of the World class fullbacks theese days. And our style of football Will make him look like a much better defender than he actually is.

I dont know enough about him, to say we schould splash 25, but we sure as hell need a better RB.

So for the first time this week I saw on a Mexican sports page they asked a question, "Does your team have a better attack than these 3? Comment below." It showed Real Madrid, Barcelona, and our very own Juventus. I had never ever seen them include us as top 3 before or top 4. Usually that spot belongs to Bayern. Our brand is growing. Showed Bale and Cristiano for Real, Messi and Suarez for Barca, and Dybi and Higgy for us on the picture. Just in case you guys were wondering who our most marketable players might be.

We definitely should try. Other realistic targets with expiring contracts are Jose Giminez, Keita, Emre Can, Matuidi, Bernard. I'd go for De Vrij, Keita and Emre Can.

As for our current needs - It seems we are going to get a CM for depth and not to actually improve on the starting CM which is sad IMO
As for RB - Cancelo is coming? I mean if he is why is it taking so long... its fucking Valencia and we already have a very good rapport with them...

If we get Cancelo and a CM that is expected I see us retaining our scudetto but it will be a difficult year as I dont see our team playing like superstars from the start - it will take time to gel..
Also expect us to look much better attacking wise on the expense of our defensive strength which might give us problems in Serie A but will make it easier for us to knock out teams in CL (until we meet the big dogs in which the overall quality will change according to the players ability to shine in big games - I expect D.Costa to make Higuain choke less)

On another note - Higuain must work on his touch - he seems to have lost a bit of his great first touch and he seems very heavy on the field (at Napoli he was also fat but he wasnt heavy...)

As for superstars that have reached the top level I think we should fight for them but the current situation means we will have to understand we wont be fighting for them (Mbappe and etc)

Morata : reject/potential -> became our most clutch CL performer in a decade
Pirlo : full blown past it -> when he retired we argued wheter he was a club legend
Dybala : potential on whom we overspend -> global star, our most markettable player, we'll be drunken mad if sold at less then 5x his original price
Bonucci : question mark -> best ballplaying central defender in the world when he left

Renato Sanches was offered to us but we said no for two reasons. Eventhough we watched him during his Benfica days... 1) we don't see him fit into 2 man midfield 2) he's too young and we're looking for someone experienced

Although I expect Juventus specific mercato newsflow to be slow, this week is still a pretty important week once the Neymar to PSG transfer is finalized. We should know within 7 days which forward Barca is prioritizing. Lets hope its not Dybala.

Andre Gomes is a horrible, overrated player for whom I wish we stay away as far as possible. The guy is a disaster and it's nothing but pathetic when you see for how much Barca signed him while also giving him rather high wages.

The guy is a mid-table club material. That being said, I do see him ending up in Serie A. Because that's where rejects end up. I hope it's either Milan or Inter that sign him, though.

Sadly, we missed our last chance to sell him for a decent sum. We're probably stuck with him till his contract expires, hoping that he won't regress too much. And he will.
