Anyone calling D. Costa and Bernardeschi question marks and/or revivals/potentials must've been so disappointed when we signed Tevez, Morata, Pirlo, Dybala, Bonucci, etc. etc.

Lets see :

Tevez : reject/revival -> became worldclass after 1 season
Morata : reject/potential -> became our most clutch CL performer in a decade
Pirlo : full blown past it -> when he retired we argued wheter he was a club legend
Dybala : potential on whom we overspend -> global star, our most markettable player, we'll be drunken mad if sold at less then 5x his original price
Bonucci : question mark -> best ballplaying central defender in the world when he left

I don't see huge issues, just one. An experience CM is probably going to be our last signing, unless an opportunity pops up.

Bonucci is a loss but we are well covered in that position and had overkill depth, it's time for Rugani and Benatia to step up. The idea really should be that they relegate Barzagli to 4th choice by the turn of the year.

De Sciglio looks like the obvious weak spot. Already pointed out is the fact that he isn't a replacement for Dani Alves, who was essentially a RM with a free role in our team. I've got concerns about MDS' character and his defensive awareness, but I'm sure we will improve those things. He need to be energetic and solid, I don't think the right back needs to be a special player in our system heavily biased around our front 6 players.

In terms of CM I think we are not in as bad a position as it might seem right now, because if Marchisio is back to a good level then he Pjanic and Khedira are guarantees at this level, and I think Bentancur will be a surprise package. We need an athletic CM simply because all our CM starters are technical players.

The glaring weakness last year was the lack of quality options out wide and those were our two big signings this summer.

You are bang on with your assessment as to the current strength of the squad following the recent sales and purchases.

Following the club meeting the need of the overwhelming majority of supporters view that the wings needing an overhaul having been made, there is really only one further purchase needed. What's more it is absolutely crystal clear that the club is also of the same mind as the vast majority of fans who are making the case for an athletically versatile central midfielder capable of being a box to boxer. This purchase will be absolutely vital in determining the quality of our possession % and also the fluidity of our possessional play. We need a Pogba, Nainggolan, Van Dijk type of machine capable of carrying the ball for longer distances than Khedira, Pjanic and Marchisio - at a faster pace.

I'd add that we also need a quality additional wing back, Cancelo style, to provide what will obviously be the last season for Barza.

Of course it is becoming increasingly vital that Marotta gets on with this with some alacrity now and gets Agnelli to bite the €40m bullet before clubs draw back from buying/selling as the deadline looms with the prospect being harder to replace players in the 2nd half of August than it would be in June or July.

Still a CM CB & RB short in strengthening our first 11. Get a move on, spend that money.

I agree maybe for a CL title but not necessary for a Serie one. Myself realizing even with the most talent how difficult it is to reach May CL action. If this, if that if if if and your out earlier than expected.

Not my money at all but getting somewhat familiarized with how the mercato works. Considering Juve doesn't spend like Barca or Real and a few EPL teams I guess, my main strategy would be go young and cheaper. There are no guarantees with a 29-30 yo 40 mil guy.

If Juve has a quality scouting system then find those upside young gems. Buy low and get enough quality depth that when they must go to Barca or RM down the road, make them pay! Those teams are able to buy a handful of Matuidis and just discard them if they don't work out. Juve can't and shouldn't.

2 for me: rb, cm (in case we won't further weaken our starting lineup, and our new physical cm is gonna be matuidi). we need a cm with very good defending skills and at least decent passing abilities, and those are increasingly harder to find as the transfer season progresses.

Schick to return to training

Patrik Schick is expected at Bogliasco today, as he prepares to start a personalised pre-season regime with Sampdoria.

The striker saw a move to Juventus fall through after his medical flagged-up a heart issue, though his agent insists the Czech international is just fatigued.

Schick has therefore been given a further month off to recover, during which time he will follow a specially tailored program.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio’s website, the 21-year-old is expected to report to Bogliasco today to resume his preparations.

That doesn’t mean that he’ll be staying with the Blucerchiati, however, as there is interest from Inter and several European clubs.

That's awesome. The kid is a talent and to be that young and sorta push out a couple other CM's that have already been here is kind of a big deal even if they aren't great.

The problem with any of these available mids is none of them are good enough to start over a heathy marchisio, so what's the point of spending 40m on a nzonzi? We should be looking for another Bentancur. Young, relatively cheap, but talented enough to play for juve. Maybe just keep Mandragora

I think now that we are seeing a slight pull back in the CM market, its because Marchisio is doing really really well. And so is Bencantur. Khedira offers stability from the bench.

My bad on thinking Matuidi was more costly than he actual is but my long term strategy plan remains the same.

He won't cost much but could someone tell me how long and how much his present contract is?

There has to be a young up and coming mid somewhere in Europe that fits the profile we're looking for. Scouts, name some young defensive mids that play for "smaller" clubs.

The guy Ive wanted for awhile is ante coric but he's more of a modric/Pjanic type. He really impressed me in the CL games against juve.

I agree .Marchiso looks very promising,assuring.The problem is depth.There are too many games over the season and we have only 3 quality mids.I don't count a second the likes of Sturaro/Lemina/ Rincom.They should go asap.The problem will arise if one of this 3 get injured.Bentacur is a nice addition but we need another quality player while,as I said we have to get rid of that three and do something with that money.
