Yes it was devastating but so is Mandzukic tracking back in to the box making huge tackles. I think its fair to say we are fine without him but we do need some reinforcements in the counterattacking game. Not sure if taking Mandzukic off here would have been smart though
I understand that. but he seemed very tired, all of our attackers. Thats why i think he needs someone to share spoils, for him to be able to go rested for games like yesterday. Is of no use if he is tired, cuz his game is all physical.

Those kind of shift, ill let allegri sort them... but my main point apart of having counter players.. is to be able to rest our main ones.

Perin over Meret. Perin is great, he is just under the radar because he has been injured. He is extremely quick on the jump, hopefully he doesn't lose that agility when comes back.

How is Felipe Anderson not good enough? he performs every week. One of the most consistent players in his team this year, he has grown so much and is a very complete player now. Besides, our current option for Cuadrado is... Lemina. Replacing a player like Lemina with Anderson would be so much better.

Douglas Costa mainly plays on the left.
Douglas plays both sides, he plays more on the left due to Bayern having Robben on a lock on the right side, and Ribery not being what he used to be. For Shakhtar he played much more on the right though

Someone link his "masterclass" performance vs Napoli.

@JuveJay
:D At least he is very direct and willing, decent bit of skill as well. Dat speed though. I was saying to my bro last night that he would have been a very useful player this season to take pressure off Mandzukic or Cuadrado later on it games.

I know he can play on either side, but he is left footed and for Bayern has been playing more on the left for 2 years now. I'm sure he would be fine on either side but he isn't the kind of guy I would like to play as an inverted winger on the right regularly. We already have Dybala that can shoot from that area. If we are gonna play a left footed player there, I would hope its someone better than him. Unless its just as a supersub, but then that brings up other questions. He would shine more, for us, stretching the field from Mandzukic's position.

Where would Verratti play in this team? Don't think it's possible that he could play with Pjanic in that formation.
Verratti and Pjanic don't play the same position. Its Khedira that gets shafted in that scenario. Verratti is not the regista of PSG, thats Thiago Motta. He plays mezzala, which easily adapts to Khedira's role with us but even better.

we have Mandzukic and Pjaca on that side already, dont think we are looking at someone to play there at the moment. he plays both sides for Bayern, not just on the left. the reason he plays more on the left is because Robben is still a top player, while Ribery has slowed down quite a bit, so logically he will rotate with Ribery more than with Robben. to me he also looks more dangerous when he play the right side, because hes not a great dribbler like Cuadrado so he has more directions he can go to and has a very good shot from outside. on the left side, hes quite easily shut down as seen vs Madrid. anyway, i hope we get someone better than him but seems like hes an easy target due to our great relationship with Bayern

i think he and Pjanic can play together from what ive seen of both in the CL this season.

He is quite easily shot down in general, not just on the left. I'm not advocating that we get Douglas Costa.

which is why i said he would be backup for Cuadrado, dont think he would bench either of our starters. still, from what ive seen of him, the right side suits him more because of how fast he is and of the strong left foot so he can pull off shots from 25-30 meters. and hes definitely not top of my wishlist either, just think that hes the most realistic target at the moment

Don't get me wrong Mandzukic has been a blessing in the CL on the left but long term we'd be better off finding a consistent threat from the left. If we need to play like 2nd leg Barca by all means start him but as a team our life would be a lot easier, particularly on the counter with a great left winger.

Verratti is fucking amazing, but yeah it would be difficult if we do go on to win the CL with this system, can we really justify dropping that for another midfielder?

Returning back to a 3 man mid means Dybala is played out of position, or we stop using wingers (Please no) or we welcome back the 3-5-2.
