My view differs from what seems to be the consensus here.


We need to improve our starting XI more than we need to improve our depth.

Provided we continue 4-2-3-1, we need exactly 3 players. Schick, a decent CM like Tolisso and a big game fucking player in the attacking department to be a vast improvement over either Cuadrado or Mandzukic. The latter will be free to help in CF position when needed

Sell trash and end up at 100mil net spend

Imo priority should be to make starting XI as strong as possible. Khedira must be replaced this summer. But we also could do with a wc winger.

Some people say we need AM/CAM. Dont think so and who is realistic anyway. Some people are throwing names around so random here putting Bernadeschi as AM. He is a wide player. This is already a problem we have now, buy the real AM then, just like Mandzu is not a LW. But we converted him into one.


On the big picture teams dont really play with a single AM when u look the ones who won the CL.

I dont get this. Buy a starting RW or LW and Mandzu and/ or Cuad are quality players of the bench. Buy Fabinho and Khedira and Marchisio are quality backups.

We need to focus on ready made starters, or young players who has the potential to be starters. No more Rincon, Sturaro etc. Purchases. If we need squad fillers use a couple of primavera kids.

It wasnt the same team.

2015 we were happy to be back in a final with a team which core were cheap options like Tevez/Pirlo/Morata

2017 we spent significantly over 125m to win the CL

The mistake was to sidestep from the 14/15 team and not build on it. And now we are in danger of doing the same. A mercato summer mustn't be wasted on depth improvements alone unless your starting XI is WC from top to bottom. What I read here is a bunch of little players and talents for league endurance, not peak performance against CL giants

Its interesting u make that point about our starting XI losing the CL and then want Alexis as the difference maker? Alexis who is 28 hasnt done anything in CL. Interestingly his 3 years at Barca from 2011-14 was time when Barca didnt even make CL final, let alone won it. Pretty interesting stat. Yet Messi was age wise his peak 24-27. And Barca only won 1 x the league while Alexis was there from 2011-14.

Doesnt look like a difference maker. Then they went and replaced him with Suarez and won treble and 2 league titles in a row.

People are overreacting about Alexis. He is not CL proven at all, when u think about. 28 now. What has he done there. Fair enough he is the only player at Arsenal who "cares", but his record hasnt been great if u add his Barca years. Couldnt even make final with Barca.

Seems like a perfect potential bottler for us.

The sidestep was made by the players (with Pirlo, Vidal and Tevez demanding a transfer) not the other way around...

BTW Zlatan hasnt won CL.

We are supposed to buy players to improve winning CL.

Zlatan is the ultimate example of team not winning it. He doesnt even get past semi finals. Remember he went to Barcelona, his played for Juve, Inter, Milan, PSG, Ajax. Never even reached final of CL in his now 15 year career.

The thing is.... you cant win a trebele with 11 players. And lets be honest.. in our midfield bench alone theres just so much rubble that we for sure can improve it without breaking the bank much. Players like sturaro and rincon are mediocre and any new competent player like mandragora would be better than them. I mean..we cant do worst than those 2.

Buy some good players for the starting 11...phase some of our current starters to the bench (cuadrado, khedira ) and complement the bench with players like schick and orsolini.

Dybala was the first to get a yellow card for absolutely nothing. The only reason he was given it, was because he was made an example for others. That put us off in going in more than them. They got away with quite a bit. We then thought twice about doing any rough challenges until later in the game. worse of all that piece of shit sent of cuadrado for what was nothing. It's a shame really as obviously that sending off wouldnt have impacted the result but it justified Ramos and co dirty play. It was mind games from the start and they are so good at it.

Ramos was disgusting all night, should have gotten a 2nd yellow there for simulating when Cuadrado "pushed" him. they learned a lot from Atletico as to how to be dirty cunts and get away with it

as an SS he really impressed me. as a winger he never was anything extraordinary imo and he doesent work nearly hard enough like Cuadrado does. but he might have found his true position finally with a role closer to the goal where he gets himself into great scoring opportunities with his speed and quickness, something Higuain and Dybala seem to lack. so if we get him as depth for HD id love him here, for the wings we need different type of players imo
