If we can get Maximilian Beier, stats wise he will be our versatile attacker can play anywhere upfront, clearly upgrade from Soule

Soule, with his 11 goals last season 5 of that comes from penalty, and 1 from free kick, only 5 comes from open play. And look the kind of teams he score against, we dont need another players to score 5 goals against the like Cagliaris and Salernitanas and come shut against our direct rivals (Inter, Napoli, AC Milan)

This Max Beier kid with 16 goals last season in Bundesliga, all of them come from open play, left foot right foot, while he is 185cm(6 feet 1 or2") he did not score with header last season. From what I see in his highlight he really good with his crossing and finishing, he can get more assists if his teammates can convert more instead of mere 3 asssist last season (same amount with Soule)

And from these list we can see him score against Bayern Munich, Dortmund, and Leverkusen as Bundesliga top team, so he thrive on big matches too.
Against Wolfsburg, Union, Kolm and Frankfurt as the mid table, Heidenheim and Darmstadt as the minnows. So we can expect him to perform against at least our direct rival in terms of UCL qualifiaction

I can see him as one on one Soule replacement while with his presence we can offload Milik to while giving him less than MIlik salary. Kill 2 birds with one stone. Weah will become another 3rd striker and 2nd wingers for both wings.

The problem with Milik is if Vlahovic playing 90 minutes he is basically getting millions to warm the bench, as I said regularly, in Giuntoli and Motta mind they want players that can play as vice Vlahovic and can fill another position too if needed. This Max Baier is the perfect sample of the kind of player that we want, we basically fusion Soule and Milik as young Germany machine with the salary half of both of them combine

In the end we will probably have 6 players minimal for 3 (AMRL ST) positions upfront, with most of them can play as wingers and attacking midfielders (like Yildiz) and at least 3 players can play as striker include Vlahovic, but the other 2 players can play as wingers and/or attacking midfielders too

Agree, the possibility is really open if we found the right value that satisfy us and Hoffenfeim. We will have higher possibility to acquire these kind of signing if we can move the unmoveable Tek, Rugani, Arthur, McKennie, Kostic, Milik,Chiesa.

If we count the salaries freed from these sell out and if only we can find someone who can buy them on their book value

Plusvalenza is only needed for the books/FFP of that specific season. In that regard we spent 4 mil on Di Gregorio. His salary is 2 mil while Woj is on 6,5. You do the math.

So the 14 mil is for next season when we'd have to spend anyway... What is wrong with that. If we hadn't made this deal, we'd be looking for a goalie with a hole in the squad. Hence every team upping the price.

The one thing that remains is offloading Pole without contributing to the salary...

Its not a valid point, because its two seperate things, signing De Gregorio, and how we will sell/get rid of players, wether its Woj or any other position.

Its end of July, and the transfer window closes 1st september. So the notion of crying about Woj being here isnt valid, it gets valid in 2nd September and we havent been able to move Woj and his 6.5m salary.

But we got a younger goalie who was chosen best in the league, for loan with obligation, cost us only 4m transfer fee this season, and 2m salary, thats a boost both in player quality and the books.


Like rainard and robee explained well, its about plusvalenza, and for Wojs case, barely even need a transfer sum to break even, just need to get rid of his salary.



Like we can critique Giuntoli of how he handles sales/getting rid of players they dont want to keep (tho he sold Kean, Soule, Huijsen, Illing and Barrenchea). Not liking some of the aspects of how the club handled that part of the equation so far. But as said, its over a month left til window closes, theres still time.


Its about them you dont feed the lazy trolling of Lion when it comes to the goalie aspect of it. Because spending 4m transfer on a top level starting goalie for this season is the absolute opposite of a red flag issue. If people in our club see this keeper as a generational talent, or as someone who is/will be great, it's completely fine to buy him even if he wasn't a necessity at the moment. Like how we bought Zlatan, despite having Del Piero, Trezeguet, Di Vaio and Miccoli in the team.

Yep exactly, we even got Woj himself too early, while Gigi was still here. So Woj spent a season being Gigis backup.


But this time it won't be the same according to their plans. Even if it will be hard, they signaling in every way Woj leaves this summer, and not next summer for free. Hence why they signing a starting goalie immediately. Maybe if we didn't Gregorio won't be available next summer (Inter angle, Napoli or Roma etc).


So far Woj haven't been part of our pre season trainings or overseas trip.


Think they just waiting for a Saudi angle since Monza is a bust. Maybe eventually just terminate him if it comes to that, tho doubt it.

I think he can be starter as our winger for this season, his ability to find the space will important for Motta style. I think next move is to project him to play upfront and sell Vlahovic, Vlaho's 12m net salary next season is just insane. I think Giuntoli only hope Vlahovic record goals contribution notch above his height with us this season so he can bargain for better price when we sell him, then use that money to improve the position that still untouch this season like RB (Danilo in his last year of contract maybe we extend 1 year more with extend clause for another year this season), and Vlaho's replacement and/or another winger and spread those salaries

Few things:
First I tend to agree with Lion on this. If we want to cut cost we should have got rid of Woj.
The only reason to go for a GK when the other isnt already with one foot out of the door is when the GK is so good you need to snap him up before others do.
This was the case with De Georgio with Liverpool also seemingly keen on him. The thing is - De Georgio for me isnt that great. He has a good shot stopping ability but its not as he is Donnarumma or something.

As for the rest - Koop isnt close but the rumors all season and all the media talking about his will to come here as well - Seems like its on.
Winger - Thats a good question as we are letting Chiesa and Soule go but we go for Galeno Conceicao (are they both really better than Chiesa?)
There were talks about Sancho which got disappeared once the name PSG came on but I know this guy can dribble but doesnt he do it way too often without too much efficiency?
Adeyemi is another name we were linked with but he from what I have seen is all speed. With Serie A probably cutting his legs before he can run too far, and with our change of play-style I find it hard to see how he can fit in. As someone mentioned he could have been good in Allegri`s counter system but a bit off for the Motta kind of football.

As for our game against Nurnberg - I wouldnt worry. There are probably 0 seasons in the last 20 years in which we were actually a beast of a team in pre season. Also the teams werent exactly at full force (kind of pointless but seeing youngsters IMO but this is for them to decide)
