It’s not a bad deal and Kessie isn’t a horrible player, but is this really the road we want to follow especially without European football? Because it smells like Paredes all over again.
I though like this too, but Kessie is 26 yo and he just didn't fit Barca style at all, still he was good in many games i seen him. Just that Barca will always prefer different Type of player. Paredes is one of the most static player u can buy, while Kessie is completely different player, besides the loan and salary cant see anything similar between them.

Agree but Kessie for me is more of a Rabiot type than the creative type who can make us create more.

He is, but we basically only have Rabiot and Locatelli in midfield who can do defensive work. I still fair to see though how we want to have Pogba, Fagioli, Rabiot, Kessie, Loca, Rovella with out European cups, they won't get enough playing time. Maybe Pogba is leaving.

if we want a hardworking DM we should go for Hjulmand of Lecce. he's on 0.3m/season, contract expires next year, tackles like Vidal and is their captain while being a 24yo foreigner

Kessie is 2 years older only and much better player? Cheaper salary is just one aspect of the equation.

He was one the leagues best 2 way midfielders in his years in Milan.

Kessie was great in Milan, one of the best in Serie A in his position. Not easy to be a starter in Barca who always will prefere there own players like Pedri, Gavi; Busquets etc. Still every time I saw Kessie play, he did a very gokd job at Barca.

Without doubt Kessie would be an amazing deal for us, our midfield would be better with him.
Kessie was good for Milan, yes. One of the best mids in Serie A? Not sure I'd go that far, I don't see a reason why he has to be paid twice as much as Locatelli, in my mind they're of similar quality.

our wage bill needs to go way down not up, the whole reason we don't have money is the wage bill that's eating up way more resources than we can afford and killing the liquidity of our squad. you give Kessie that wage, you create another dead asset that won't ever bring in a penny just like Rabiot, Woj, Sandro and a million other guys we overpaid. we just can't continue throwing money down the drain like this, rather we sign a worse player that we can afford and that will create positive value in the future than continue to watch JJ pretending it's PSG.

I dont know about Serie A best mids but he was good. The thing is with Rabiot still here I see no reason to get Kessie as well.
We need someone who can drive forward and make great passes - Not exactly the Kessie type.. Maybe Allegri wants a defensive team that will play counters and in that way I can understand although I do not agree with the playing style.

Honestly if I need to pick 2 of Rabiot Locatelli and Kessie it will always be Locatelli and one of the other two and not because Locatelli is a better player, its more about style of play, I see no need for 2 Rabiots on the field.

I like Locatelli (or at least his potential) but I'm still waiting for him to be anywhere as near as good as Kessie was for Milan.
He might will when we have a coach who can get the best out of the players. Conte and Tudor are being mentioned for next season - Both should be able to do it.

Why do you assume 3 years later you getting the same kessie? He already got the big payday, dude is obviously on cruise control, only a club run by incompetent idiots is even considering him

I have no idea about either the player or his cost, just wary of ayrab players from Lyon
Same I was vaccinated.

I don't watch l'OL too much anymore, but Cherki has talent, he's already the technical leader but fickle for a youngster (the level of this club doesn't help him). He already has a big ego (each time he extends on short term and has made it clear that his dream is Real Madrid).

In truth, the only one we should have taken was Fekir, I'm convinced he could have played for a very big club without his serious injuries.

Otherwise for realists and pessimists.

We all know there is a good player there, just not for a big team and he has to stay injury free. I could see him becoming important player for a team like Lazio or Viola and even more sure he could become big player for a team like Valencia or Sevilla, if he manages to stay healthy. I Wonder why he is not aiming forvLa Liga mostly, this league would suit him the best.
