I don't think a left-footed cb is a must, the preferred foot of a cb doesn't matter that much.

But a cb is must, and it's more about the player's calibre on the defensive end, age, value, wage etc. than his preferred foot.

I don't think we are going to plusvalenza on Miretti and so on. My guess is that Zakaria is going to be the plusvalenza this summer. He was already away from our team. Sadly because i liked the guy. But there will be no room for him in a 3 man midfield if Rovella returns and maybe Pogba stays healthy for more than a couple of minutes

Playing out of the back is much easier if you have a left footed CB on the left and a right footed CB on the Right. Not a must, but nice to have imo.

This I agree, always wanting a new Chiellini in the team. :weee: All I'm saying is that perferred foot shall not be the first criteria to consider when selecting cb.

1 more year of Cuadrado would be good if it allows for the team make other necessary signings. He isn't really a problem.

This got me thinking, which Atalanta players left Gasp and kept, or exceeded, their level of play?
Kessie is the first one that comes to mind, probably the one that kept his level the most. Romero can also be there although I don't think he is quite as good as he was at Atalanta. He is a bit overrated imo. Spinazzola was also one who simply got done by injuries, his level is great otherwise.

For me the most difficult to rate positions of Gasperini's Atalanta are the CB in the middle of the 3, the attacking midfielders, and the wingbacks. His system makes tactically smart players in these roles look amazing because they are "just" exploiting results of his tactics. It's a bit like with Pep or with Conte.

So if one signs a midfielder or wingback from Atalanta I would forget about their goal contributions and really have to look closely at the attributes of the player, because those goal contributions aren't going to translate to our system.

We need one because we have all right footed CB which is hampering Allegri's tactic , we need a capable left footer not just for the sake of left foot otherwise we be satisfied with having Sandro there. Having a capable left footer will allow some of the players currently on CB to be more comfortable and you can see from the game.

Its more of a tactical option more than focusing on the foot alone. Since we will probably have 5 CB , at least one who plays on left like Chiellini will give more balance and options to Allegri.

Juventus are now the favorites to sign Davide Frattesi. Contacts in progress between the parties. The Sassuolo midfielder is a strong idea for next season.

strange target. imo we have a lot of midfield depth available on a small salary and cheaply - Fags, Miretti, Rovella, Barrenechea. imo for the midfield we should either spend on a surefire starter-level player like Mac Allister or if we don't have the cash bring in a cheap, experienced head like Bobby Pereyra to add smth different to the mix.

Frattessi is just another young player for rotation that might be a bit more experienced and a bit better than the other young players we have, but is the improvement worth the cash we'll spend on transfer + salary?

So you are suggesting we should sign SMS?

Only if we get him on a cheeky bid like 30m, no 50-70m bullshit for a player on his late 20ties on his last contract year. Id prefer a younger player, preferably from abroad so the tax reduction applies.
names pls

btw agreed on everything, i'd also avoid paying big bucks for sergej. he'd still be our best mid, i'd take him over frattesi, he's twice the player for the next 3-4 years

Kovacic not young, but you have to take advantage of Chelsea's sporting and financial situation. End of contract in 2024, he will cost between 30-40 but he is worth them, in regista or mezzela he is an indisputable starter with us.

I think youre underestimating how good Frattesi is. The only guy with his skillset in the current squad is Rabiot. One of the top b2b guys in serie A this season.

But Frattesi only really makes sense if Rabiot is gone for sure. I'd prefer Frattesi, hes younger and his wages will be significantly less. Also Italian so wont be flirting with leaving as much.

Seems Roma bound though. Flirts with them every chance he gets. Born and bred Romanista so I'm not holding it against him.

remember him at inda? he wasn't able to play 3 matches in the row on a consistently high level. i think he's the only serie a player to provide 4 assists in a single game during the last decade, and he's also a well documented ghost for half a season

but yeah, he'd start for us, easy

ans that's pretty sad. we neglected the midfield for way too long

btw my pick would probably be mikel merino. too bad for the recent pl hype and he's also pretty loyal to his current club. he'd fit right in
