He would. He is a fine midfielder and most of ours are average. We have no mids with any notion of assisting and chance creation.
True that. But first of all it depends on the coach and the system. Secondly Calhanoglu has actually been absolutely dreadful for Milan besides a few good months this season when their whole team was on fire so it's obvious he can't carry a midfield or team. If he drowns with the rest of our mids he ain't improving shit.

He's actually the worst of that Milan midfield and I remember those things being said about Rabiot & Ramsey too. So I'm sceptic. We need leaders who step up, not 50/50 guys.

I agree, he is not good enough.

i would seriously consider Klopp. He is falling out of favour in liverpoool and he is the best guy to build a ucl winning team in 2-3 years time.
Yeah but there are some issues with Klopp:
1. He expressed his dislike to the Superleague thing
2. He doesnt seem like the type our board will be after.
3. No CL - He wont leave Liverpool for us (even if they dont get there as well)

and... 4. We arent even remotely linked with him. Its not happening as its not fans pick your coach day.
Yeah no` 2 and 4 are quite similar...

Yet another midfielder that shouldn't be more than a bench option, but on starter wages. Tici loves that shit.
Yap.
Meanwhile Aguero and Depay are Barca bound so they take some of our overpaid strategy away...

I have mixed feelings on Calhanoglu.

I think he is a better player than he gets credit for. He has 4 goals and 10 assists this season and capable of passing the ball (something none of our mids can do).

However, we need to be aiming higher to get back to where we were.

Given our financial issues we are getting a player who brings something we lack on a free who is only 27, which doesn't seem so bad. I just hope that the wages are not ridiculous and he doesn't have a huge signing on fee, unfortunately we know that won't be the case. I'm also not sure where we'd play him.

Yeah, 10 assists because he takes every free kick and corner kicks. Stats padding at its best.

But his threat from long range is something we're lacking.

He opened us up (I know not that hard) but he can create chances which nobody in our midfield can.

I haven't watched enough of Milan to know what % of the 10 assists were from set pieces. But either way it is a positive contribution and something we have lacked. I'd happily take 10 goals from indirect free-kicks/corners.

If we sign him then we won't sign de paul shows how much transfer budget we have this season

Is that surprising though? There was no cash to begin with, without CL it will be even worse.

Perhaps we should look at it at a different angle: he's much better than Ramsey who makes 7m. So if you replace one for the other, it's still an upgrade.

Far from what we should be aiming, that's totally true...
