Why people trash Cuardado so much here? Come on, whenever we played Fio he was the only player who actually gave us any problems. Guy can easily beat almost anyone one on one. It doesn't mean shit if he doesn't play with Mou, KDB didn't play much either and now half of clubs are fapping on his picture.

I wouldn't put it like that. I think we'd have more options surely, but both Tevez and Vidal are stronger than who we replaced them with. We could be better of course, but I doubt we're gonna see the fruit of this mercato next season.
Exactly. What's really happened this season is that we've laid the groundwork for a team that will now mature into a squad with a higher ceiling than the last one had in the next couple of years. This will include hoping some players actually top off on the potential we are currently taking a chance on. I would still be pragmatic about Draxler if that happened, but it's still better than Mikhtarayan and will perhaps be a higher reward if it worked out. We certainly aren't stronger than last season, man for man in the starting eleven, but we are stronger from a point of view of the next 3-5 year cycle.

Say we kept Pirlo/Tevez/Vidal (and didn't make many big signings this off season) I don't think we would have done as well in Europe anyway.

Last season was a perfect storm for us. A lot of things fell into place for us at the right time.

With our shift towards young, talented players with massive room for improvement, we are setting ourselves up for the next 5-6 years. And for me, I'll happily take the loss of our stalwarts for this to happen.
The truths somewhere in the middle here, depending on what kind of results we are expecting from this Mercato. Quite honestly, if we held on to Vidal or Tevez irrespective of Pirlo, we would've held on to a far more settled aspect of attack and/or midfield, which would enable our youth to mature with the right frame of reference and guidance.

Right now, everybody's young and everybody's going to be thrown into the deep end to cycle out results, coming from arguably the second most successful team in all of the continent last season. Not easy to replicate. If we can tailor our expectations, and be willing to reap the virtues of a patient renewal, then this is great. But keep in mind, not all young prodigious talents take that step up when burdened when expectation, which is why my two disagreements this mercato remain the sale of Vidal (let's not forget Beppe himself said he was happy to stay) and the purchase of an AM of the ilk of Draxler/Mikhtarayan/Vazquez. If we pull of Goetze though, I will be blown away and starting quality mind you will be far more fluid than last season. Which is what I think we are trying to achieve. Not necessarily, trying to better last years team, just trying to organically build from where that team brought us in the kind of football we play.

Cuadrado would be real if he came on loan in addition to an am and lb not instead of an am.

Nobody wants him instead of AM, because we need AM and Cuardado is not an AM ;)
But, why trash a guy who could really help us in 433 and bench Licht with 352.
Getting him on a loan would be super. I think Max even could try him as RB in 43?, something Marcelo-like.

Report: Donsah to Juve done
Reports suggest Juventus have agreed to sign Cagliari’s Godfred Donsah, but the midfielder will be loaned to Bologna.

I wonder if not having quality options on the market for the AM is pushing Marotta to sign LB like Sandro and RB like Cuadrado so we can play 3-5-2?

I'm not high on Draxler, but along with Alex Sandro and the sale of Llorente it would be OK I guess. Marotta has these 3 things to do before the closure. I've given up on Isla. Cuadrado on a loan would be pretty good, without obligation.

Vidal (37+3) + Llorente (10) - Alex Sandro (22+3) - Draxler (20 + 10) - Cuadrado (3M loan) = +2M - 10M Draxler bonus. Salaries would probably match. Looks good.

Getting Cuadrado would actually make me fancy a real 352, with WBs who can offer depth, quickness, offense. Draxler/Dybala/Pereyra could be deployed as AM in a 4312, but if they don't work out, a good 352 option makes the team much less dependant on a trequartista. Also a 433 would be on the cards, with 2 true wingers (left Draxler, right Cuadrado)

Buffon

Barzagli Bonucci Chiellini

Alex Sandro Marchisio Cuadrado

Pogba Pereyra/Sturaro/Khedira/Asamoah

Dybala/Morata Mandzukic/Zaza/Coman

Me like it.

I'd call a very good mercato with these 3 acquisitons + Llorente sold, even if Draxler is a huge question mark.

If you wanna deploy a 433, Draxler/Morata on the left wing, Cuadrado/Pereyra on the right could work well too.

It would give the team so much flexibility, and if Asamoah and Khedira can actually contribute during the season - great depth.

Really liking the tactical flexibility it would give

Also, Alex Sandro is master coup because he's a very solid defender and can play almost everywhere on the team. He's actually played as a LCB before. Similar to Alaba. I'm sure he'll be a player of the same level.

He can play anywhere in the left side (LB, WLB, LM, LW) + LCB + LCM.

He could even be used as a left winger / LCM while Evra takes up the LB spot.

Please do it.

Now that Chelsea got Pedro, I really think Cuadrado became expendable for them.

They will probably wait till the end of mercato for an offer of at least loan + obligation, but in the end they could very well take a loan (around 3/4M) + option. This would be the ideal scenarium for us.

If he plays well, next year getting Berardi back we'd have:

CFs: Mandzukic, Morata, Zaza

SSs: Dybala, Coman, Draxler

LWs: Draxler, Morata, Alex Sandro, Coman

RWs: Berardi, Cuadrado, Dybala, Coman

AMs: Draxler, Dybala, Pereyra

You could shuffle these players around and make good teams. Endless possibilities.
