Tielemans has performed exceptionally well for such a young player and could develop into something truly special. I think every club would be lucky to have him. Obviously he would probably not play a lot in the beginning, but I do think he has all the potential to become a world class player. I'm not sure if he'd be interested in Serie A though.
but this is what annoys me the most about what marotta said today. On the face of it we sold a world class player to just replace him with a rotational player in midfield. This is just a complete backwards step of how we are going about. It is like we are back to the old quantity over quality way of things. It's wrong! options or not this is a major fuck up on behalf of the management and not helped by their own arrogance in how they negotiate for the 'better' players i.e draxler
I don't have any figures up my sleeve and I can't be fucked finding them, but I feel that we moved the ball around quicker and created more chances with Marchisio in front of defense. When Juve played with Pirlo the overarching plan of attack seemed to be 'get Pirlo on the ball'. A fairly one dimensional plan which was unsuccessful many times for us in previous seasons in games like the tie against Bayern in 2013 when Pirlo was simply man marked out of the game. It was the only plan and we struggled to create chances. Yes, we won the league four times in a row but after Pirlo's first season at Juve I feel Conte's 3-5-2 got found out and we were more grinding out results with exceptional defending and pure grinta, not unrelenting, Pirlo orchestrated assaults on goal.
With Allegri's 4-3-1-2 we became a touch less dependent on Pirlo but even still his playing was contingent on having a tackling box to box midfielder in Vidal playing in the hole on account of his defensive shortcomings. Someone on here rightly mentioned that attacking midfielder is a position not a playing style. The same goes for playing in front of the defense. Marchisio is not Pirlo. There are very few players in the world who could even come close in terms of style and ability. However, Marchisio is a remarkably smart and well rounded midfielder and he suits the role well. He provides more defensive cover than Pirlo ever could and he allows us to shift our creative focus further afield behind the strikers where it should be in a 4-3-1-2.

we havent sold Vidal to replace him with a mediocre player though. Vidal leaving was due to him wanting to play for Bayern, and we absolutely cant replace him with that calibre of player since no one that good is available. the only options we have are young uprising stars like Vidal was prior to his move here and more experienced players that arent exactly on that level. we'll see who and if we get someone, but no one should be expecting top players
