so lets just rewind here, we racked in a record income off CL, sold our best player for the last 4 years, but cant afford/attract a good AM? blew our load on almost, d?bala and 2 bench material forwards, YIKES
The worst part is No Tevez either! :(

I still trust Marotta to pull a deal through, with an AM, LB may be harder, but if we can get a class AM, then we have a good chance to perform just as good as last season.

and sold the biggest italian talent (inb4 Zaza deal is part of Berardi purchase next year)

Calhanoglu is better than Draxler.

If we didn't have a clear aim from the start, why selling vidal.

Ofc... :shifty: he wanted to leave :shifty:

No but Vidal departure was kinda unexpected that we had to reshuffle our plans.

Again, give me names of AM's we can afford.

bu thats my point why are we in a position where we cant afford a key piece to our formation when we just made a buttload of money? but fine i'll entertain the question gaitan, markovic, brahimi
€83m already spent excluding bonuses. If you include bonuses, that's near to the amount we earned from CL.

We clearly dint do these purchases keeping Vidal sale in mind.

Regarding those names, interesting but all three are wingers though ? Brahimi I would imagine would be the most expensive of the lot closer €50m.Not affordable imo.
I don't know the situation concerning Markovic and Gaitan though.

we can afford, but not sure we can convince the club to sell or the player to move or if Juve wanted to spend that much.

Hamsik, Draxler, Kovacic, Gotze, Coutinho, Oscar, and of course my fave, Isco!

I reckon the most expensive will be Gotze and Isco at about 45-50 Mil, Yes Juve can afford that, will we want to spend that much is another question. Hamsik, as much as i don't like the guy, is probably the cheapest and most valuable buy in the short term, he would probably end his career with us.

regarding the bolded, who take blame and responsibility?

why is he not affordable did we not sell a player who makes a lot more for 35 mil? also how do we justify paying 32 mil for a player on his last year of contract with one year in the 'majors' but not 50 for a proven continental player?

Why don't you understand. I'm not
bashing the driver for not being able to pull the car out of the swamp. I'm angry with him for driving it there. Names? Firmino and pre-renewal Pastore would have been dynamite. Vidal sale unexpected? GM signature on Vidal's release papers was faked while he was sleeping?

Hamsik-Napoli-rival
Kovacic-more a CM than an AM.And Inter-rival
Draxler-still possible
Götze-player not convinced and will be expensive in terms of both fees and wages
Isco-not for sale
Oscar-not for sale.Too expensive anyway.

Basically there arent many quality AM's on the market where we can afford to make an important economic effort on.
So it's either looking at talents or market opportunities. The latter seems less likely for the moment.
Nothing wrong in waiting I suppose.

The unexpected sale of Vidal is the only reasonable explanation one can provide for not being able to purchase a quality AM.
I really do not think we intended on selling him before Bayern came calling.

Lets be frank, it did look like a good mercato until the Vidal sale.

Zaza is the only questionable purchase in my view.

Ahh. So sad we didn't go for Firmino when we had the chance. I really don't think our management had any idea that Vidal would ask to leave for Bayern this summer, until a couple weeks ago. Beppe said in a press conference in early July that we would not be selling Vidal or Pogba unless they requested it. It's pretty damn obvious Vidal asked to leave for Bayern. It's the only reason the deal went so quickly, and with so little outside competition and influence.

Whether we should have listened to Vidal's request is another story (I'm inclined to say yes), but it's pretty clear his transfer request was not planned for, and perhaps our management should have stalled it until we could determine if a suitable AM was available this summer, even telling Vidal that the sale would be dependent on our signing a suitable replacement first, if he wants to choose the club he goes to.
