Juve press on Cavani, Mandzukic
By Football Italia staff

Juventus are reportedly pressing on Paris Saint Germain's Edinson Cavani and Atletico Madrid's Mario Mandzukic.

Having already scooped Paulo Dybala from Palermo, the Bianconeri are looking for another striker to flank the Argentinian.

Il Corriere dello Sport is running the line that Cavani is currently their first choice, but PSG are unlikely to make it an easy deal having paid €64m for the player themselves in 2013.

Alternatively, the 29-year-old Mandzukic is an option that meets the Old Lady's favour, though they may have to beat some Serie A competition as Milan already expressed an interest in the player.

Il Corriere reports that the Bianconeri have also not forgotten about Sassuolo's Simone Zaza and Domenico Berardi.

According to the publication, Neroverdi executive Giovanni Carnevali was spotted in Berlin yesterday evening, where Juventus lost their Champions League final 3-1 to Barcelona.

@Mark BS?
That sounds like a fairytale.

im thinking about why these names like Benatia and Abdennour are even popping up now, considering getting Rugani back seems like the logical move. so maybe we really want to keep him out on loan for another year. or he wants to pull a Berardi on us :boh:

I know. We have spent too much already. I am talking in terms of long term strategy. First phase out older players and replace them with players of around the same level. Second go for superstars. Juve should be more or less the same for a season or two but then when we have super stars we will become one of the elite squads.
What is your definition of too much money?

So far they have spent 32 million on Dybala, 3.5 Million on Rugani, Khedira is coming on a free transfer, and they will be taking up the 14 million option on Pereyra.

That is 50 million, without taking any sales that may happen into consideration. This club is on very solid financial footing, and have set themselves up to where they are able to spend more money without having to sell.

So let's assume for a moment that they bring in both Berardi and Zaza for 15 million each. That is 80 million total. Juve actually spent more than this in 2011-2012.

Van Persie hints at Juve move
By Football Italia sta
ff

Robin van Persie is in Italy and said he’ll “speak to my old mate” Patrice Evra about a move to Juventus.

The speculation ran wild on Saturday that RVP was there for negotiations with Lazio after he was spotted in Rome.

He assured that it was “only a vacation” and Biancocelesti President Claudio Lotito also called the rumours “total bull.”

Instead, his comments to the Sunday Mirror suggest that old link with Juve could be revived this summer.

“I still speak to my old mate Patrice. He has told me stories about how Juventus train, how hard they work and how they manage to be successful.

“They have a fantastic spirit – a totally different approach from English or Dutch players before games. They grab each other by the head, they shout at each other to pump each other up.

“And they also have big running sessions after games. Patrice has showed me there are many ways to be successful.”

Juve have won four consecutive Scudetto titles and this season did the domestic Double before losing a hard-fought Champions League Final to Barcelona.

Meanwhile, Van Persie is considering his Manchester United future after a campaign largely out of the spotlight.

“It is my ambition to play as many games as possible. I'm fitter than ever and I know the more games I play, the more it will help me prepare for the European Championships.

“You want to arrive at tournaments with match time, not as a bench sitter. I know that when you are at a club like Manchester United – it is like a beast.

“It is so big and strong it can do wonderful things for you, but it also has a negative side and that is what I have got to decide on this summer.

“United spent £200m on players last year and they are going to spend another £200m this summer so we will have a team that can compete for the title.

“I'll have to take everything into consideration when I decide on my future. I have to be realistic about the situation.”

5 million pound offer is what I heard for him.

It's from the Daily Mail though, so let's assume that I haven't heard anything about this yet.
So the rumor mill has officially kicked the summer mercato into overdrive.

Going to be interesting. I'd like to see a FB, another CB (inlcuding Rugani) and a solid bench striker.

Abdennour reminds me of Chiellini and I always have preferred a defender like Barzagli, so I would be much more happy with Rugani.
It's always been Juve's style to have a destroying next to someone silky smooth. Thinking back to the Montero days and this era with Chiellini. You could go back beyond Montero and see the tanks we deployed in the back line.

Having those kinds of defenders that are also capable of defending but not shy on bringing the pain I think add to our fear factor.
