It's always been Juve's style to have a destroying next to someone silky smooth. Thinking back to the Montero days and this era with Chiellini. You could go back beyond Montero and see the tanks we deployed in the back line.

Having those kinds of defenders that are also capable of defending but not shy on bringing the pain I think add to our fear factor.

Would you start him over Morata though?

I think that is the issue that a lot of us are facing. How do you bench Morata? You simply can't at this point.
Morata can adapt to a different role, the kid has a lot more to his game then Mandzukic, and I don't see how they both can't play together.

But why have him adapt? Mandzukic is as good as he is going to get. He's reached his ceiling. The sky is the limit for Morata and the last thing that I would want to see is to have him, of all people have to adapt.

I wouldn't. The season is very long though. Dybala would rotate with Tevez and Morata with Mandzukic, and that's assuming we'll stick to the 4312.

With the 4321, we need a direct substitute for Morata, and that can't be Llorente or Matri.

If we managed to keep Tevez and did get Mandzukic I'd play something like this

Vidal-Marchisio-Pogba
Morata-Tevez
Mandzukic

Any of these three can lead the line, but due to both Morata and Tevez having better technique and creativity than Mandzukic I'd prefer playing them a little further away from goal so they are more involved with the midfield. And Mandzukic is a fantastic targetman to have.

Personally, I think signing a player like this means Tevez is leaving.

Deploying a front 3 or 4312 you could play the likes of Morata, Dybala and Cavani/Mandzukic

On paper that looks absolutely fantastic, don't get me wrong.

With that being said though, you are looking at potentially 60 million euro worth of strikers as bench players, regardless of how much playing time they would get during the season.

Is Juve that kind of club now, where they can have so much money invested on two strikers to be on the bench?

Man, how I would love that to be true. I just don't think they are quite there yet. And as @Hustini said, the arrival of Mandzukic could very well mean the departure of Tevez, and now you would also have to find a player to deputize for Dybala, because I believe that he would be slotting into Tevez' spot in the 4-3-1-2

We need pace and creativity on the wings. We lacked a Nedved last night, someone who can create up front. If we can improve on that respect, we'll win the CL.

At the very least, we should bring Berardi in. I would also like a trequartista.

No way for selling Tevez for Mandzu though. I guess RVP will solve this little problem. :D

This is a tough call for the club IMO. Spending big on bench options might be a tough thing to manage for a year but once Tevez goes it would be a sure thing for them to start. I mean, if Barcelona can manage to play a trio like they have and make it work I don't see why we couldn't either. I remember seeing their bench options before the game and thinking to myself, our bench has a long way to go to be competitive in the CL final stages. Our bench is class for domestic titles but entirely different than what Barca had to choose from yesterday.

Again it depends on how much we have or willing to spend. BUT lets say for sake of argument Tevez does stay here for his final year...how do you tell a player like RVP/Cavani/Mandzukic "we want you, but you won't be a starter for at least a year". Not sure we have enough money to throw around on a salary to convince someone like them to do that. Who knows, maybe we are appealing enough again for a top striker to consider being second fiddle to Morata/Tevez that they would be willing to put in the work to try and nudge their way into the lineup . :boh:

    Juve press on Cavani, Mandzukic
    By Football Italia staff

Juventus are reportedly pressing on Paris Saint Germain's Edinson Cavani and Atletico Madrid's Mario Mandzukic.

Having already scooped Paulo Dybala from Palermo, the Bianconeri are looking for another striker to flank the Argentinian.

Il Corriere dello Sport is running the line that Cavani is currently their first choice, but PSG are unlikely to make it an easy deal having paid €64m for the player themselves in 2013.

Alternatively, the 29-year-old Mandzukic is an option that meets the Old Lady's favour, though they may have to beat some Serie A competition as Milan already expressed an interest in the player.

Il Corriere reports that the Bianconeri have also not forgotten about Sassuolo's Simone Zaza and Domenico Berardi.

According to the publication, Neroverdi executive Giovanni Carnevali was spotted in Berlin yesterday evening, where Juventus lost their Champions League final 3-1 to Barcelona.

    @Mark BS?
Yesterday during the pre-game GDM mentioned Mandzukic if Cavani doesn't happen. This morning a paper also did.

Dybala, Morata, Coman and :)xfinger:) berardi could very well offer that.

Number one priority should absolutely be a fullback though, preferably on the right side.

Btw I'm pretty sure that we won't sign Darmian. It would be great, but there are literally no signs indicating that we're planning to buy him.

Those are some 50-55 games seasons. Tevez, Dybala and Morata is not enough. We need a player to share the games with Morata, and this player should be a good one, not Zaza for example. Mandzukic would be a nice option.
However, it all comes down to the tactics we are going to follow next season. 4-3-1-2 ? 4-3-3. If we choose to play a trident in front add Berardi in the mix for sure immediately. If not, it depends on Carlito's decision whether to stay or leave this summer.
