Del Piero could never be replaced, never entirely. That's not possible. But I do think Jovetic would be worthy of being the "next great seconda punta" at Juventus. I think this signing would make a lot of sense now that Del Piero is gone.

And yes, I'd pass on the "top striker" in order to get him. First of all, it's not like we're getting one anyway. Second of all, Matri will do just fine with service from Vucinic and Jovetic.
Why would you pass on something we don't have for something we already have? We still need that 20+ goals striker more than a new SS.

And I don't trust Matri for being more than a reserve, lets be real.

I totally see the need for a top CF, I just really doubt that we're getting one of RVP, Higuain, Cavani or Dzeko. So instead of getting Gomez or Lewandowski or someone like that, I'd much rather spend that money on Jovetic. And as for "something we already have"; I know you're referring to Vucinic, or perhaps even Quagliarella, but Jovetic is above their level, even at 22. He's a future world class player, of this I'm 100 % sure. We've just lost Del Piero, and Jovetic would be perfect.

Also, I'm one of the few true Matri-supporters on here, so I would argue that he's better than what you're suggesting :D

Not saying he's world class, though.

Jojo isn't a necessity at all, but he is a golden opportunity that we must not pass on if we didn't want to be kicking ourselves in the ass for the rest of his career.

I don't, I think we can get one out of RVP, Higauin, Cavani and Dzeko. There are only so many strikers Man City can sign.

Also Jovetic is not ideal in a 4-3-3 if we were planning on using that formation too. While a new CF comes in handy in both the 3-5-2 and 4-3-3.

You're good

I think this is how I truly feel about the whole situation. I just love the player, I really do, he's fantastic, and I would hate to see him go to one of the Milano clubs, which he probably will, if we don't get him. Or to Napoli first, before one of them scoops him up.

That shouldn't be a reason to sign someone though. The signing must happen on basis of necessity :depressed

I could see him at United. Seems totally like a Ferguson type of player :scared:

Why not ideal in a 4-3-3? Why can't we play like this;

Vucinic CF Jovetic
Marchiso Pirlo Vidal
LB Chiellini Barzagli Lichsteiner
Buffon

Very narrow. He can perhaps start on the left and we'll use an actual winger (Pepe? :shifty:) on the right...

But 3-5-2 seems to be our direction now.

I have strange feeling that You guys, underestimate Lewandowski. He's developing very fast and can be a beast in near future. Maybe I'm not objective, cause I'm Polish though :)

Hello everyone. It's my first post here, but I've been reading this forum for 3 years. I started during the Rafinha and Grosso saga (broken fax :p ) and even registered here, but I couldn't post. I dont't know why, because I confirmed e-mail. Nevermind.

Just in case - sorry for my English

Yeah, Jovetic should only be considered if Juve are planning to play two up front most of the time.

In 4-3-3, he'd be wasted playing on/from a wing or as the main CF, having to play with his back to goal a lot.

fap away.

for those who say we merely need a goalscorer upfront, think about our lack of decision making in the final third apart of Pirlo. Now this would be a guy to improve it drastically. And we'd finally not be so Pirlo dependent, as we'd have two gems in the building of our play. Just like in the past (Ale/Zizou, Ale/Nedved...). Plus, I can't even imagine the sex of a 3-5-2 with the montenegrin duo on top. Jesus.

He's not a proper winger and doesn't have the work rate Conte is looking for.
Jovetic has exactly the work rate Conte wants (he's no Pepe, but the boy is miles better than Vucinic at that, for example), despite all the injuries. I think that's actually one of the biggest reasons to love this playa.

Well I see the 3-5-2 being our main formation next year.

If we can't get Jojo, Giovinco is closest to him, speaking of SS and creativity. But we have to work out the deal with Parma. We grabbed Giovinco with one hand, now use the other hand.
