No one can be sure of anything, (except maybe for Cavani) but unlike MAtri, Vucinic, Jovetic, Giaccherini, Giovinco, etc, Tevez is a player that did reached that number many times in his carrier.
We cant be sure about his form and how he will cope in serie A, but his numbers are good enough, his finishing skills are there, there is a question about his consistency though, with both him and Llorente on the bench to fill his off days, i am confident that we will be ok.

13 goals this season and 14 the season before. That's not a top player or a 30m signing.

He needs to dominate more, that's it. He needs to show more , produce more and have a big season before we can spend the money and our hopes on him. He's decent, but then again, there are plenty of players who play on his level and are not worth more than 15m.

jovetic is ten times the player gio is now, and his potential is huge. considering his age, skills now and his potential, he is worth close to 30m. the problem is not really his valuation, but the fact we cant pay 30m cash.

last year we paid 12mil to get 50% of giovinco's half back.
So why not sell him for 24mil, add 6 more and get Jovetic?

3 times is still better than no time and all the players i mentioned, Jovetic included and our current options, never did... most of them didnt even reach 15 league goals/season, never!

Somewhat unfair if you take into consideration number of games Tevez played through some of his seasons. In those in which he surpased 20 goals his app number was 45-50 games. Jovetic never played more than 35 games iirc in a single season as Fiorentina rarely played in Europe.

Jovetic is 23 who is yet to take that next step and move to a big team.

This. Jovetic in the right environment can improve a lot yet and be our true difference maker. His goalscoring record is quite good as for SS or LWF. I don't think we can do better than him so don't try to compare him with Suarez or Ibra. Jovetic has bright future but he needs to move on.

I'm not sure you guys understand the point of this exercise.

You must hype up every player that Juve probably won't sign so you can be furious at Marotta for not signing the player that would absolutely definitely have made all the difference and guided Juve to several CLs in a row.

You must also downplay how good anyone is that Juve do sign (Llorente), so as to be able to give Marotta as little credit as possible if that player turns out to be a success.

^BS! there is a reason that in the past 10 years we are always are able to find decent SSs (12-15 league goals/season) and never managed to get a finisher (+20 league goals/season) since Treze.
Each and every season, either by the water boy (Secco) or the incompetent man (Marotta) we always manage to snatch a decent SS or CM, how is that a challenge then?
There is a reason we can easily achieve that and we cannot achieve that we really need the most.


And esp after 10 consecutive years of buying SSs, i will most certainly not rate yet another SS acquisition, at the expense of a prolific finisher!!
There always have been excuses, but in the past 2-3 years, everybody openly admitts that this is what we want.

I said LEAGUE goals, i am not counting all competions of course...
so there is a direct comparison, the highest league number of games Tevez got in his carrier was 35 games and he has scored 23 goals, just league goals. other times that he has reached and surpased 20, only took him 29-31 league appearances, there is no league with 45-50 match days, not even EPL.
Jovetic played 31 league games/season at most, but only scored 13goals and many other times he averaged 29 league appearances, but he never got past 13-14 goals, (unlike Tevez who did) thats a typical for a SS.
Vucinic, giovinco, Matri, Amauri, Iaquinta, etc also reached the 13-15 league goals, in a similar number of games, but noone managed to get past it twice in their carriers.

I am only considering league goals, so its pretty accurate.
I have been rating forwards for years this way and every time we were to buy one of them, i was bringing up this argument and opposed the acquisition, untill we have secured one finisher (+20league goals/season at least 2-3 times in his carrier) first.
We never did and we are keep suffering because of this.

And this is yet again the reason that i insist that we should invest on a prolific finisher first.

We can always find 15 league goal/season forwards. There is a great abundance of them in them in the market.
Lots of them appear every season, Santchez, Jovetic, Cassano etc are all great players, we will always have an opportunity to find one, also we always had decent SSs and since Conte we have been creating plenty scoring chances in every game, we have great midfielders who can control the game and support the forward line a lot.
Also we already have many capable forwards who can do great things up ahead, but none of them cannot score consistent enough to reach +20 league goals within a reason.
For various reasons. So until we fix them, further investing there seems unwise.

We have been mostly suffering because we are not prolific enough and our forwards lose far too many occasions.
The rest can be calibrated, tactically, but their scoring capabilities cannot. This can only be fixed by buying a dedicated prolific finisher.

Tevez (Cavani, Higuain and Lewandowski too) has proved in his carrier that he can reach those numbers under the right circumastances.
Jovetic has not...

Because he never scored more than 15 leagues goals/season in his carrier, so he is not a finisher in my books.
< 15 league goals/season = poor finishing skills or inconistent at finishing.

So a striker that is usefull up front, supports the attact, either by being a target man, CB magnet, off the ball movement, anything but being a dedicated scoring machine, is not a finisher in my books.
He is just a supporting striker, an SS, the finisher is the one that finishes the offensive efforts, when he just helps/supports its a SS.
Some SS, dribble, some pass, some make runs, etc, but the most of them are not great at scoring and they cant go past 15league goals/season.

They need a finisher to complement them. Same goes with some finishers, most of them they are not good enough in the parameters SSs are good at.
So to complement each other and have results, you need both of them, one to support and one to finish!

We had DP, a gifted player, who could all, these players are rare, they come once in a life time.
Now we need a dedicated tool for each position, one to create, one to finish, our best forwards, Vucinic and Giovinco are great at creating, but they suck at finishing, they waste too many chances, never get more than 15league goal/season, they need a finisher to complement them, if a finisher joins, then they can focus on what they do best, stop trying to score what they cant score, waste less chances, create more chances for the ones who has better scoring chances => the end result is better for all!

Most of the casual fans, mostly fall for the flicks and tricks os the dribblers, or just the spectacle, whi is good, but to compete with the best, we must try and be efficient, we must perfrom well in every field, and not just creating specacle, but also finish our chances.

Esp in the toughest games, which are more balanced than our usual seria A game, we will not be able to complete boss our opponent and creative an infinitive ammount of chacnes until some of our CMs or CBs scores.
We need to be efficient with our chances and score a decent ammount of them.
Matri is not the kind of players that can give us that, neither is Jovetic or Sanchez, they can offer things, but not that!
And this is what we lack the most!
