While I have always been a huge fan of Jovetic,

Does anyone else feel he has not been the same player as compared to pre knee injury? Have fiorentina recognized this after watching him this year and softened their bargaining stance?

Can't help but have that in the back of my mind.

I dont think he will have permanently declined from where he was preinjury. Now days they have become very good at treating injuries like the one he sustained. Its almost becoming routine, while 20 years ago it would have been a career ender. Also when players come back they take a while to build their confidence on their repaired joint as well as take a while to get back to their old level. There are not many players who are as good or better the season after a serious knee injury (Adrian Peterson in the NFL last season was a surprising exception). It took Quag almost a year and a half to get back to his old level of play and he admitted it is very difficult both mentally and physically. So I expected this season to be a write off for Jovetic but it maybe a good thing if it drops his asking price and acts as motivation for him to join us.

Elkan don't know jack sh!t about football, he's only talking money-wise.
But maybe what he means is that, it's been decided (by Conte and co.) that if Higgy comes one striker goes (Matri, quag), and if Jojo comes one SS goes (Mirko,Seba :shifty: )?!
If that's the case, I would def want the Jojo deal to through rather than Higgy, cuz at least we'll have a competent first choice strike force (Jojo-Nando).

Wait. So people are/were actually thinking we'd sign both Jovetic & Higuain in addition to Llorente?

Difficult to say whether that's sad or hilarious.
Yes people are that deluded.

It's a (clear) race between Higuain and Jovetic, and at this moment, it looks more likely that we will sign Jovetic. But things could change. Signing both is just Football Manager nonsense. Won't happen in one transfer window.
