Bud, it's clear we just rate the player much differently, I don't think we're going to find common ground here. Jovetic doesn't need to 'GO ON' to become the 'BETTER PLAYER'; imo, he already is the better player, and he's only 23. He's done very well in CL, albeit over a very small sample.
Also, you keep bringing up other young stars who would be extremely desirable, and I'm with you on a guy like Reus - he would be a great ad. But you don't know his true value either, nor do you know if his club is willing to give him up (they're absolutely not - not for 30M, or the type of money Juve will be comfortable spending). You also don't know if the player has a desire to come to Italy at all - which more and more young players are very hesitant about these days.
Young stars like Reus will have a queue for their services, everyone will have registered their interest at this point, and he will not be moving this window anyway. Think of the players they're already losing, that club doesn't care for the money at this point, they want to compete. They have a duty to their fans. Do you honestly think Real is interested in moving Benzema when they're already letting Higuain go? I doubt it.
So it's not just as easy as identifying another quality target, and abracadabra. There are a load of conditions that need to be favourable for a transaction of this magnitude, and I believe that Jovetic checks a lot of the boxes on our management's list. We'll just have to see how things unfold, and what his value is during this market
We do rate the player very differently but that's not to say I don't get where you're coming from. The example you give in the CL, is not enough to clarify his ability with a level of consistency. That may well be down to the club he plays for, but yes, I would find it hard to agree that he's already better than Vucinic who has just way too much experience at this point to add to his temperament while playing on the biggest stage: which is a club like Juve. And purely, based on Juve's needs at the moment, Vucinic for me at least, remains the better fit.
I would be excited at the prospect of Jojo at the right price and I get that there are many conditions when talking about a 30m rated player. But the reason I mentioned Reus at 30m, is because to the best of my knowledge his buyout clause is 30m. Normally when you pay that and unlock the player's contract, the club no longer have a say int he transaction, and the decision would solely depend on the player then. Thankfully, Juve have a profile that would attract a continental player and I'm sure someone like Reus who has achieved more than Jojo at a similar age would be excited by the prospect of playing with guys like Pirlo, Chiellini, Buffon and Vidal.
As for Benzema, im simply stating the profile of the player you could achieve with that sum of money, if not Benzema, then someone of his calibre, a player who would list as a game changer. Jojo for all that you think he is worth, is not a game changer. Again, he could grow into that role with a club like Juve and with the right kind of players and environment around him, but right now, when we want the CL, and are looking at players who can take us forth in Europe, 30m on a guy like Jojo is just not the way to go.
While you already know how I value him, I would guess his market valuation would be between 25-27m and we should be looking to close the deal with Fiorentina between 22-24m. Even if I'm to go with the market valuation, I'd say his 30m price tag of last season should've dipped a bit is season, to be fair to everyone involved.
I don't think I've misunderstood you, Sir. I already know that you think it would be stupid to pay 30M for him, that you think it's a risk. That you think he doesn't elevate our attack enough to warrant that expenditure. I get it, I just respectfully disagree with all of that. As I said above, we differ in our evaluation of the player's quality, and it's to the point that there's not much common ground in a discussion like this (other than we ultimately both want what's best for Juve). Last year, the Rats were ostensibly asking for anywhere between 30-40M, they're going to require significant cash for any Jovetic transaction.
While I'd like to think that a chunk of the money we would eventually pay in a deal like this, would be for potential - I wouldn't be against a deal like this at the kind of price that would even allow Juve to get a bigger, more experienced European level player. Also, I'd like to point out, that it's not just about overall quality, but just as importantly a value based argument too.

I rate Jovetic, regardless of his name and nationality, and would be rather happy to "waste" (according to some people) 20-22 million on him, rather than truly waste in excess of 6 million on the vastly over-rated 30 year old shitbag that some are excited to see here

Jovetic is definitely worth the 30 million. I can't imagine how someone who has seen him play, doesn't want him. At his age, he's been a leader for his team for a couple of years now and has everything needed to become the next great #10 of Juventus. Comparing Diamantis and Giovincos to him is like comparing Trezeguet to Amauri.
No dude on his sane mind would like to stay on a team that will play for nothing the next season, while the actual champions of Italy are knocking at his door with promises of silverware and euro glory.
If he values his career (he is 23), he should seriously consider whatever offer we come up with.

You can't stick to the price if you set it at a time the player was doing better than his current form. The market dynamics will always change in this scenario. The player wants to leave as he did last season when his agent tried to push the deal through. The management want to sell because they have a replacement in Rossi and will have another in the makeweight that Juve offer, along with money to strengthen other areas. If Juve are serious about Jojo this summer, Im pretty sure a deal will come through, sooner than later because his club is open to a sale.
