The number 10 means too much, when you look at the last three to have it (Platini, Baggio, Del Piero) for it to be retired. Just when you think that there would never be another player to replace the previous one, lo and behold, someone comes along
No one will ever replicate Alessandro Del Piero.

He is the biggest player to grace this shirt and will remain so.

If clubs like Milan retire #3 and #6 then Juventus should be able to do so too.

Giovinco will become a monster when he is fueled with confidence. It is yet to be seen in Juventus, but I think he showed it in Parma. I really dont understand how our fans can rate him so bad when its a player of obvious qualities. And rare qualities - at least for the current squad. When reinforcement arrive I believe Giovinco will step up in quality. We need guys like Jovetic to make the most out of Giovinco. Gio will become inspired to try out little tricks and skills that our current team / and tactics doesn't allow. I believe we're way too focused on having the ball in our feet that tricks and skills isn't allowed for the risk of loosing the ball..

If this team did not retire Scirea's #6, it is certainly not going to retire the #10.

Benching Pirlo at all doesn't make sense :)

It seems Barcelona paid "only" 28mln E for Neymar  , sounds like low fee evend i don't like him .

Benching Pirlo for Marchisio makes no sense.
This is my alternate lineup not the main one.i can see pirlo playing even lesser games than last season.

Retiring numbers is for small clubs..
Not only that but retiring #10 wud also be seen as an insult to past legends such as baggio and platini.
The legacy shud continue !

Have you seen that stunner against merda? :tuttosport:

JoJo was my first choice last summer. This year I don't even have one because I'd have to choose between Diamanti and Lodi knowing our recent failures to land some proper forward but those rumors are getting hotter and hotter.

I refuse to put a JoJo ava just yet .

If anyone can't see the obvious quality in this player, I really don't know what to say. I just don't.

The possibilities of what Jovetic can do with THIS SQUAD are amazing. There is no one on this current roster than can do what he does, as consistently as he does, at this age. He is simply going to make everyone around him better. He is the player that will be capable of creating magic, of creating something form nothing, the true FANTASISTA that this team needs
Ah.. I just can't let this one go :p

This team doesn't need a fantastista, it needs someone who can score. We got 5 guys who have never scored above 15 goals in a season in their careers and we'll be getting yet another one if we sign Jovetic. This team has been lacking finisher, for two years we've been cursing our strikers because they can't finish the simplest of chances. We need guys who can score both the easy goals and goals that need a more advanced finishing skills. Someone who knows how to run behind defenders and finish.

What you're talking about, many players could fill that role for way less money. Sanchez was even better than Jovetic his last season in Italy and could probably sign for us now that they've just signed Neymar. Lavezzi could also be the fantasista you're talking about, that man was behind almost every goal Cavani scored. And I bet we could get both of these guys for around 20 or less. A natural finisher like Higauin won't come around twice, guys like that are hard to find.

Well Llorente did bang something like 30 goals for Bilbao

You know that Llorente is coming?

People act like we didn't sign him yet.

He's here to do THAT job and we're NOT going to bench somebody (Llorente) who gets 4.5mln per season. Our striker and guy who you want to finish will be Llorente next season, deal with it.

I think that his key component in his game, aside from the fact that he is a 12-13 goal scorer whilst not always playing in his preferred position, is #1) His vision #2) the fact that he doesn't have a weak foot.

What his vision and anticipation does, is that it forces the opposition to draw to him, and not just in one-on-one coverage either. It forces defenses to shift to him. If you look at the past couple of seasons, you'll notice that what he does, when he draws such opposition to him, is that he is able to quickly and more often than not correctly place the ball to a teammate in a position where that teammates chances to score are exponentially higher.

The 2nd point of him not having a weak left foot is not just solely relegated to his ability to score with both feet. It has much more to do with the fact that because of this, he is a nightmare to gameplan for. You can't, as an opposing coach, just say to your squad "Keep jovetic to his left, and he will be negated". Doesn't work that way. His ability to use both of his feet on both sides of the pitch, on the ability to turn towards goal and place an accurate shot using either foot, is instrumental.

And as far as the complaint that he doesn't score enough goals to warrant that price, think about this for a second.

This Juve model is not based on the individual, but on a combination of players working in unison, with cutting, running, anticipation, and a variety of players scoring goals. Let's keep in mind that players such as Vidal and Marchisio don't score goals solely on the premise that no one else can, but it's because the have that ability, along with Pogba to be able to score goals from the midfield position. This squad is not based solely on the individual, but the team. This is where the impact of a Jovetic, in my opinion, will be felt the most.

Llorente doesn't deserve to start over Vucinic. Atleast not yet. Maybe he'll prove me wrong but I really really doubt it.

That's we signed Llorente! He will be our CF/Finisher. Jovetic is coming as a SS/AM.

I don't get why its that hard to understand. Not just you personally, but for everyone saying Jovetic doesn't score many goals.

No he wasn't. Stop kidding yourself. Sanchez has never had to have been the go-to guy, to lead his club. He also had a certain Antonio Di Natale playing alongside of him. Sanchez is a fine enough support player, but he is not someone who can take a club on his back and drag the team through. And the signing of Neymar is irrelevant. It's not Sanchez who will be leaving, its Villa. And Lavezzi is almost 5 years older than JoJo. No thank you.

Oh, and one more thing on this. IF the BEST that Sanchez can do is score 12 goals, while being a support player to the likes of Di Natale and Messi, than what makes you think that he would explode into this fantastic goal scorer once the weight of that burden is placed on his shoulders?

Hey wait. I just thought of something else.

How is getting Sanchez, who is a year older, or Lavezzi, who is 5 years older at 20 million straight up cash, a better deal than a 23 year old captain for his club and country for 20 million + a player?

Goals come from everywhr in this juve side.
if both jojo and llorente can 15 goals each it wud be considered a great return.
atleast in the process we wont be putting the scoring burden on one player like some teams do.napoli for ex.

I noticed that as well. What happened to everyone? People were ready to cut off their limbs and donate them to Bilbao when we were negotiating with them. Now that we go him for free, everybody acts like he's some kind of depth player. Some people need to get back on the ground, but that will happen eventually once August comes.

I guarantee Llorente will score a minimum of 15 goals.

Jovetic will play a big part in all of his goals. (If he were to come)

Vidal and Marchisio will grab their 8-14 goals a season.

I know.. seriously.

It's all "we need a finisher, we need Higuain" and nobody even mentions Llorente like it's only a rumor still. Or they think he's gonna sit on the bench, I don't get it.

Llorente - Higuain is not something we should aim for. We actually need more a SS, rather than somebody like Higuain.

Honestly?

Don't be that harsh. Even if he's wrong, it's only an opinion.
