Juve Fans Launch Anti-Stankovic Campaign

Juventus supporters are hugely against the prospected signing of Inter midfielder Dejan Stankovic, and have posted messages on various forums and websites, including Goal.com, threatening to whistle the Serbian at every touch if he comes to Turin.

The Bianconeri are well known to be in the market for an attacking midfielder, and have been in negotiations to sign Stankovic for some time now.

The 30-year-old has already agreed personal terms with Juve, and has agreed to take a significant pay cut, and all that is required to complete the deal is for the two club to agree a transfer fee. Juve have offered around €7.5m for the Serbian international, but Inter are demanding close to €14m.

However Bianconeri supporters are angrily against the idea of seeing Stankovic join their club. First of all the midfielder is seen as something of an enemy, having played for Inter.

Secondly the player had a dreadful 2007/08 season, and is widely considered to be well past his best, as proved by the fact that new Inter boss Jose Mourinho has made it perfectly clear that he is surplus to requirements.

Juve fans have bombarded fan forums and websites, including Goal.com, threatening to boo and whistle Stankovic every time he touches the ball if he ever joins the club.

This has led the Juventus hierarchy with a tough decision to make, as sporting director Alessio Secco was expected to push on with the transfer this week. There are now reports that this pressure could forced them to scrap the deal.

Juve Fans Cause Stankovic Move To Collapse
According to reports in Italy, Dejan Stankovic’s prospected move to Juventus is on the verge of collapsing after Bianconeri fans campaigned against the transfer. Juventus have been in negotiations to sign Inter midfielder Stankovic for quite some time now, and had been expected to tie up the deal very soon.

The 30-year-old had given his consent to the move and agreed personal terms, and all that was required to complete the deal is for the two club to agree a transfer fee.

However Bianconeri supporters are completely against the idea of signing Stankovic, mainly due to his Inter links, but also because of his dreadful form from last season.

Supporters bombarded fan forums and websites, including Goal.com, threatening to whistle Stankovic every time he touches the ball if he were ever to move to Turin.

It appears that the campaign has worked, and reports in Italy suggest that Juventus transfer director Alessio Secco is ready to pull the plug on the deal.

This is the second time that Juventus fans are rumoured to have influenced the club’s transfer strategy. The Old Lady were also reported to be considering handing over Sebastian Giovinco to Palermo until supporters launched a similar campaign against his sale

This might sound as a BS, but i think Juve fans, right now have more power than ever. Because the new managers want to create a team, attractive to the fans,
thats why are looking for more attackers than defenders, our priorities have changed!
We are not looking forward to win anymore, but to please the public that will fill the arenas...
Stankovic could help us to win, but thats not our concern...

I agree, this Secco is totally fool. How many mistake he did in just 2 years? Remember just some:

1. Exchange Mutu by Bojinov
2. Buying Boumsoung!
3. Buying Almiron!
4. Not keeping Zabrotta.
5. Try to sell Chiellini to Man City
6. Try to sell Givincio to Lazio and Palermo
7. Try to buy Stankovic or Burdisso.
8. Many wasted oppurtunities like: Frings, Klose, Milito and ...

and still more to comes ....

and I rememeber Moggi, In 2005-2006 summer he Just bought one Player and it was Patrick Viera! He went to london and brought the player with himself!

1. We needed to cut the wage bill.
2. Deschamps requested him.
3. Most people were not against the Almiron transfer.
4. Zambrotta wanted to leave.
5. I'll give you this one.
6. We don't know if he intended to let him go.
7. Stankovic is/was a decent player. I don't think we wanted Burdisso.
8. We kept Trez, so we didn't need Klose. Milito cost too much and has been shit this season. Frings wanted to stay at Werder.

I'm not going to say that Secco has done a good job, but he hasn't done as badly as folk here make out.

You can't compare him to Moggi. Moggi was better, but the club were also is a much better position financially pre-Calciopoli.

Well said Juve Red. Secco might not be the ideal man in the ideal position, but people should stop blaming him for everything that didn't work out. In the case of Almiron, everyone agreed with Secco. He choked, bad luck.

Regarding Stankovic I really hope they back off. I mean come on. Not only has he been a symbol of the most hated club, but now he's old and useless and would add little to the team. Why don't we sign Mihajlovic while we're at it ?

He's 29, not that old. IF we get Alonso as well, i wouldn't be opposed to Stankovic. He'd be a viable alternative for Camo and Nedved, as he can be a bit like them; a playmaker on the wing. He's a bit of a bastard, granted, but I'd love to see us pull another Cannavaro/Zanetti case. He WAS one of serie A's best midfielders in our absence(the serie b adventure).

Having said that, his wages sound a bit ridiculous.
