U18 just beat Belgium 6-0.
We got lucky with a bunch of foreign orgin kids. Lets not forger the huge criticism we had about the youth system after al the failures that followed the 2002 world cup.

Take a look out of all talent we have, its nearly all foreign immigration. That does not last. Especially since most of them will prefer their historic nation. Fellaini is a massive exception. Turkish and moroccan people will feel more tied to their historic roots and play there.

We got luckt actual belgian talent like de bruyne, mertens and courtois are appearing at the same time as a good generation immigrated youth decides they want to play for belgium instead

Thats not ripping into immigration btw. Its just that for example north african descend belgians feel themselves more tied to their historic origins then to belgium.

Remember the januzaj saga ?

Actually in most cases descendants from immigrants end up playing for the country they grew up in.

France wouldn't have a NT ever since the mid-90es if that wasn't the case, same with Switzerland or Austria right now.

Belgium is a bit of an exception.

Francy colonies will want to play for the illustrous french team and consider it an honor. Tho the rise of african national teams haltes that a bit.

Its different in belgium. Kompany will say he feels entirely belgian, like most african descends. But the grand majority of north africans will prefer their origin.

We arent really a place with history.

Belgium is a land of savages turned into a makeshift country so germany and france had a place to settlw their differences.

We got little history and mean nothing.

Januzaj was a second generation immigrant of a country that only recently exists. It was a very complex story. Moroccan Belgians are often third or fourth generation immigrants and will generally prefer Belgium over Morocco, but will pick the latter if they feel they won't be selected for our NT.

At the moment perhaps, we'll see. Im expecting a drought once this generation has passed

More like he's describing why they're so dominant.
Barca's academy is amazing (credit to Cruyff, and Spain can thank them), but I wouldn't describe the rest of Spanish footy as so dominant.

And I'm not a big fan of Spanish footy or the philosophy behind it, but that's a personal preference.

He is right, tackles are hardly something to aspire to. If you knew at all times what your opponent was going to do and you could get there first you would never tackle anyone. Tackles are for last ditch desperate attempts to salvage a hopeless situation.
Tackling shouldn't be the first line of defense, I agree with that. I disagree with the part where he says it shouldn't be learned or taught.

Pretty much

- - - Updated - - -

A tackle at the right moment can catch the opponent off guard and launch a counterattack. Having that ability will stresss the opponent in thinking twice before trying dribbels.

But then there is the best leftback in history, who hardly made one tackle per game, cause he read the game so well his positionning was top notch and didnt need to tackle

Montero also didn't tackle very much early in his career, he was so quick he didn't have to.

And you think people give a fuck about history? Absolute bullshit.

They'll choose to play for Belgium because that the country they grew up in. They absolutely feel Belgian.
