Compare how much Arsenal spends on their transfers with the other big clubs in Europe and you'll know why.

Arsenal making it every single year to "atleast" the quarter-finals in the CL and competing for the top 3 spots in the premier league in itself is a "huge" achievement IMO. They keep selling their star players every year yet they still on top.

Compare that with a club like Liverpool for example, who sold some of their key players and automatically they're dropped out of the top 4 spots in the league.

It's pretty amazing really what wenger has done so far.

For me its was mainly down to David Dein's departure & the emirates stadium eating into their budget.

I just don't understand how some folks don't get how important Dein was to Arsenal. He really gave Wenger all the backing he required & hardly gave him any stick.

Well you can blame him in the sense that, all went downhill because of his departure

In hindsight, i think it could have been better had the board listened to Dein and sold to Kroenke.
