I have no home country, I have no home town, and I never supported a football club until I was almost 30. From the time I was born until I turned 18, I lived and learned in 8 different countries on 3 different continents. I left Europe when I was 7 and did not return until I was nineteen. In Australia, where I attended secondary school, there was almost no coverage of European football. When I moved back to Europe, I was a professional footballer and did not follow the sport as a fan.

So, I guess I have a different perspective on things. To me, following football is an intensely personal thing. I do it almost exclusively for my own personal enjoyment. So, I guess I'm not a fan at all.

Sounds like a pretty amazing life to me.
