Maher, perhaps it'd be easier for you to link to other people's posts rather than copy/paste them. At least you'd give credit to the original poster this way.

Breno upset with Real Madrid age demands

A move by Real Madrid may have left them on the outer in the battle for Sao Paulo defender Breno.

The 18 year-old Brazilian has Real, Bayern Munich and AC Milan chasing his signature and it's emerged that the Spanish club actually demanded he undergo an X-Ray examination to prove his age.

"If Real really want me," said Breno, "I shouldn't have to undergo any examinations. They can just try for another defender."

"As far as I'm concerned, there's no problem. I am sure of my age."

Spanish Press: Rijkaard's Fate To Be Decided Before Christmas

DiarioSport contends that, despite the recent protestations of president Joan Laporta and the board, Frank Rijkaard's job is still very much under consideration...

DiarioSport reports that Frank Rijkaard could know his fate by Christmas with regards to the managerial hotseat at Barcelona.

The original plan was that Rijkaard would be given the entire season in which to prove himself; now, though, DiarioSport claims that December could prove crucial.

With tough away games looming - Valencia, for one - and the visit of Real Madrid to Camp Nou also on the horizon, it seems that only a most impressive Christmas season will do.

Still, such speculation flies in the face of actual declarations from the likes of president Joan Laporta.

The supremo has recently declared himself happy with the way things are going at the Nou Camp, and he's also pointed out that Rijkaard has turned the team around from such difficulties before.

Technical secretary Txiki Begiristain has also expressed his support for Rijkaard.

However, recent developments - such as Edmilson's hinting at dressing room unrest at the Nou Camp - have partially undermined the boss' position.

Such factors have led some to believe that at least one or two influential board members are contemplating a clean break...

Edmílson Outburst Will Not Affect Barça - Schuster

Bernd Schuster does not believe that Edmílson's outburst signifies that there are any problems at Barcelona and believes that the club will absorb the problems it caused.

The Real Madrid coach was asked about his thoughts on the Brazilian's declarations that there is a black sheep at Camp Nou and that many players are more concerned about money than football.

"From the outside I do not think that the atmosphere in the Barceloan dressing is bad," Schuster explained.

"He has made some comments, but that does not mean that the atmosphere within the squad is bad.

"But I have already said that the important thing is to focus on ourselves, so I don’t care about what happens at Barcelona. The only thing important to me is what we do.

"That’s why it is also important that the players have returned in good shape and that they have all qualified for the Euro 2008. We are leaders and we shouldn’t look back. We have an important month ahead of us.

"Barcelona and Real Madrid are great teams that know how to deal with pressure. I’m not worried about their problems because I know they will keep playing at the same level."

Old Friends

This weekend Madrid travel to play Real Murcia and Schuster is well aware of the dangers posed by Lucas Alcaraz's side.

"I like them very much and they have important players such as Pablo García, Mejía, Regueiro and Movilla. They are all experienced First Division players and they know how to play," he continued.

"They are very excited about this year and they’ve had all the time in the world to prepare for the game. My players know their characteristics by heart because their coach Lucas and I have known each other for years.

"It will be a dangerous game. We will have to do our best to win."

Robinho and Julio Baptista played for Brazil in midweek and Schuster is unsure whether either will be ready to appear for Madrid on Saturday.

"A player should enjoy himself with us and his national team. He must endure this if he wants to play. When he decides he wants to play for his national team he knows he will have less holidays and more games," he stated.

"I demand a lot from my men. Naturally, it isn’t good for a player to be up all night, but they have another night in which to recover.

"On one hand, it is good for the internationals to continue with the same rhythm they’ve felt in the past few days. Some of them returned earlier than others, some played less and others didn’t work as hard because their teams qualified in the first game."

Finally, Schuster expressed his surprise that England failed to qualify for the European Championships next summer.

"I think it surprised all of us," he said. "Once again, it has been obvious that tightness not only exists in leagues. Many international sides have suffered.

"There is always a surprise in the end. It is hard to believe England hasn’t made it through, but this is football and you can’t take anything for granted."

La Liga Preview: Barcelona - Recreativo

FC Barcelona (3rd, 24pts) v Recreativo (18th, 12pts)
When: 20:00 CET - Saturday, November 24, 2007
Where: Camp Nou, Barcelona

FC Barcelona will be looking forward to the visit of Recreativo for more reasons than one as they can finally start answering their critics in the best way possible.

A resounding win and a strong performance will silence the snipers and naysayers that have been attacking the Catalan outfit since they were beaten by Getafe two weeks ago.

The Blaugrana's away day performances this term have given the Spanish press all the ammunition that they need to claim that a crisis is brewing at Camp Nou.

In the last fortnight the inquest has been ongoing about whether it is the system, the attitude, the desire, the ability, the technique, the players themselves of the coach who is to blame.

Barça did not play well against Villarreal, Valladolid or Getafe and with an international break and no transfer news, they were seen as fair game.

Calmer Waters

This weekend will be seen as a chance to calm the waters, even it is a home match, and then the preparations can begin in earnest for the short trip to neighbours Espanyol a week later.

Edmílson's outburst may not have been the most helpful, but rather than see everyone cry out in shock, his statement that certain players prefer money and material items to winning games was met with a shrug of the shoulders.

It was surprising to hear a player still earning a huge wage at one of the biggest clubs in the world say such bold things, but no surprise about what he did say.

Recre will arrive in Catalunya knowing that they could well be facing a backlash from a side determined to put their season firmly back on track.

Frank Rijkaard's side have a 100 per cent record at home this season and it is difficult to believe that they will slip up this weekend.

Same Score

The Andalucian side have made the trip north two times in recent seasons and on both occasions have returned home having been beaten 3-0.

In 2002-03, goals from Fabio Rochemback, Patrick Kluivert and Philip Cocu did the damage, while last term two goals from Ronaldinho and a header from Xavi secured the win for the hosts.

Former Barça star Víctor Muñoz took over from Marcelinho as coach of Recre in the summer and he has struggled to find the same momentum that saw the club almost qualify for Europe via the league last term.

Two weeks ago, Recre secured only their third win of the season as they defeated Osasuan, having already beaten Espanyol and Deportivo back in September.

Before that last victory though, Muñoz's side had not scored in six consecutive games and had only a single point from a goalless draw with Racing.

That run saw the club plummet towards the bottom three and they arrive to face Barça sitting in 18th position.

PREDICTION

Barça at home are a formidable force as they revel in the expanse of the Camp Nou pitch and are lifted by their own supporters. The away day question will be forgotten on Saturday evening as they look to silence the critics and Recreativo will do well to limit the damage. The visitors have only won away one this term and they are not are not going to double that tally in this game.

FC Barcelona 3 - 0 Recreativo
