I don't remember ever witnessing two players who would score as regularly and as much as these too. Maybe Van Nistelrooy at his prime but that was like for one season.
Maybe it has something to do with the quality around them? Too much quality on their team and too little on their opponents?

Just look at their NT goal/game ratio and things might become a bit clearer. "Best finisher"

and about times too...italy was always kinda balanced in the first 4 teams, always rotating..in england you see a clear fomination of utd, arsenal, utd, chelsea, utd...in spain it's just barca and real with valencia and depor winning it once in the last 20 years

Ronaldo and Messi show their true colours when playing for their NT's - they're no where near as dangerous as they are for their respective talent rich clubs.

Players like Ronaldo, Maradona and Romario showed their quality no matter where they played.

I'd love to see how well these two would do in Italy. I could certainly imagine Ronaldo crying every week that Italy is too defensive.

Messi has GOAT potential if he can win some trophies with the NT, remember the likes of Zidane and Ronaldo ( the real one) didn't start winning with their NT until Mid or late 20's, so he's still has enough time to do so, and he's already arguably the best club player ever.

The match yesterday showed the big difference in this league, number 1 humiliated number 4.
Nah man, Real Madrid won with 2 goals difference, One of their 4 goals was an PK. And Levante even had a red card for 50 mins.

Dont forget Roma smashed Inter 4-0 last week.

Did Kaka start? I'm starting to fear that if he continues to be a sub at Real, Berlusconi and Co might manage to bring him back for cheap, and he's exactly the kinda playmaker they need to become a real threat.

I don't think you could come up with a player that has put up Messi like stats and won as much as him with his club and still 24 years old.
Alfredo di Stefano 660 games - 528 goals
Ferenc Puskas 523 games - 509 goals

Just few form the top of my head, I if searched there would be more for sure.

But stats don't prove anything, specially in what you're saying. Though if you look through the history you will find so many better players than those two... The todays quality is so lacking that it is a joke to consider them the best in anything.

I don't rate Ronaldo as much as i rate Messi, Yeah you may have apoint with Di stephano with his scoring and winning record, but don't forget that Messi is still 24, i'm sure he'll beat that scoring when it's all said and done.

You don't rate Ronaldo. I would so love to see Messi in those 3 years when Xavi is out and hopefuly iniesta is injuried. Or in another league somewhere. I used to love Messi and think he is one of the best players if not the best now, but with people like you comparing them to all time best just makes me hate him more and more.

Why you see one player and you suddenly think he is the best ever, while you didn't see so many great ones. You don't even have to look that far in the past. Zidane was 10 times the player Messi is or probably will be. The real Ronaldo would eat him for breakfast. And that's just few players that played 10 years back that.

Fuck Messi and his fucking fanboy bandwagon and big big fuck you to la lyga!

That are indeed the stats, but Real dominated after the 0-1, the red card was deserved, and they could have easily won 6-2 or more.
Not to mention they scored already 75 goals in 22 matches and lead the number 2 with 10 points, and the number 3 with 18 points.
Too big of a difference IMO.
