I did. I think Conte has the right tactics for Barca. What I watched against Roma is a formation I've always thought to be the best against the "Barca formation". Yes Roma is mostly cack players but their possession stats are enormous because of the formation, still.
The best formation IMO is the 3-5-2/5-3-2.
I don't know if some of you noticed this when we just got done whipping Roma who plays the same exact tactics as Barca (only with mostly cack players) but... notice how our 2 forwards always marked the CBs on goal kicks. There's step 1. No team has yet to even do this simple thing against Barca. They don't want to start play with the fullbacks or take long goal kicks.
When the ball is at the feet of the the RB or RCB or the LB or LCB the 2 forwards mark the deep lying playmaker (Busquets/De Rossi) and the other CB so the man with the ball can only play to one side. Re-watch our game vs. Roma if you have to. Our forwards continually funneled play to only one side of the field. Step 2.
Then you have to have a stopper in front of the 2 CBs that plays where Messi plays. Next, you need 2 outside backs that can play wider because you have a pseudo 5 man backline. This means their wing players are more tightly covered. And you are left with 3 on 3 in the midfield. The only players open are the fullbacks or one of the CBs.
For example, Abidal has the ball. You take away his ability to switch through the playmaker and the CB and funnel him down the left. The rest of Barca are mostly man on man. You will not be overloaded which is what Barca does to kill their opponent. Your only concern is the opposite fullback but the chances of him hurting you are remote because of the distance between him and the ball.
Totti plays the "false 9" like Messi. How many times did he touch the ball? Very rarely. Especially in the 1st half. Ok, he's not Messi. Messi will move out of that slot to get the ball, but ultimatley, that's FINE.
What you can't have is what happened today. Messi gets the ball in midfield, turns and runs at you like it's a fucking counter attack. How that happens so often is beyond me. He literally walks from inbetween the 2 CBs and receives a pass completely unguarded. But the 2 CBs are both scared to follow him and get pulled out of the back line. So you NEED a stopper.
