This argument, Ronaldo had a strong Manchester united team built around him and even a stronger RM team. Is barça a strong team yes, does Messi benefit from playing with players like Xavi and Iniesta, absolutely. But he's still superior to Ronaldo in every facette of the game bar FK.

I have watched all of Real games this season and I can safely say that you can't be any more wrong. He's having an excellent season, more of a team player now, irreplaceable. Messi and Ronaldo are by far the best players in the world at the moment but if I were to build a team and I had to choose between the two, it would be definitely the latter.

Difference is Del Piero wasn't always surrounded by the best players in the world, nor was he integrated into the team's style or play & footballing philosophy since he was a wee kid. Del Piero carried this Juventus team on his shoulders on numerous occasions & his success along was inextricably linked with Juventus. Del Piero was never dubbed the greatest footballer in the world, so Messi hasn't proven himself in another league.
