What players did Boca lose from last season? It's really too bad that they lost Paredes to Roma... It's a loan with option?

Insua stayed, Zarate stayed. Both super talented young defenders. Juve should go for one of them.

Tiago Casasola? It will be interesting to see how he does at Fulham.

I'll keep an eye out for Magallan in the Boca matches I watch this year. I didn't know Riquelme left. Argentinos Juniors too. Strange.

Sanchez Mino is at Torino now. He's the one Badass was always on about? Is Torino going to play him in midfield or on the wing? He played a mix of the two at Boca, right?

It's really too bad South American leagues can no longer keep at least a few of the very best players from the continent. It would make football so much more interesting, and that Club World Cup would be so much better, rather than the joke of a competition it has turned into. Boca, River, Santos, Universidad, etc. They need some multi-billionaire owners.

half the time european sides don't even take the club world cup seriously any ways, not as much as the south american teams

Agreed. They would though, if top players were staying in South America still. The old Intercontinental Cup had some brilliant match ups in the 80s and 90s.

Juve beating Argentinos Jrs in penalties in '86, and then the 1-0 win over River in '96. Sao Paulo beating Milan 3-2 in '93. Boca beating Madrid 2-1 in 2000. Such good matches.

FYI "River Plate are the only team who have had more possession and more shots than every one of their opponents in the first four rounds."

I am. Hoping River turns it on this half.

You must be psyched about the Boca result. Crazy to see all that emotion after the Chavez goal. A lot of pent-up frustration released. Nice finish by him. Both Calleri and Melli were fantastic imo. Dominant performance. :D

Gutierrez!!!!!!!! Piscu is having an amazing game!

God, watching the replay again. What a brilliant touch, dribble and pass that was by Piscu! :tuttosport:

Crazy miss there. It was Matri-esque.

Lucas Boye!!!!! :tuttosport: 18 years old. New River starlet. Let's get him here to Juve next year!

piscu with a great performance, i still dont understand how teo plays in a pro team, but this apertura is turning out to be really entertaining, great games so far.

@PostIronic 'River Plate's Teófilo Gutiérrez (6G) and Leonardo Pisculichi (2G and 4A) have been involved in the most goals in the Torneo 2014.'

Teo is insane. That air rifle incident in the locker room at Racing is hilarious. The guy makes Suarez and Balotelli look like angels. He has always had the talent to play for a big side probably even in Europe, but that mentality is scary. It's too bad, as he's been really good for his NT. It seems River is his dream side to play for though. That Lanus incident, showing up in a River jersey while playing for them... But his form for River has been pretty impressive, so I'm hoping he stays sane here, and continues to light it up.

This season has been really entertaining. River being +11 in goal differential after 5 rounds is crazy. I don't think I recall a start like that in years, but having Velez and Newells right up there with them in the table makes things exciting. I think Boca will make a run up the table with the new manager and after seeing how they dismantled Velez. Could be one of the better years in quite some time. Here's hoping Boca and River make good runs in Libertadores this year. Is Boca qualified yet?

What do you think of Lucas Boye? He made quite the splash yesterday after his substitution. He's been pretty good off the bench for them in the last few matches. I recall him hitting the woodwork midweek also. Potential star?

Teo, it seems like he took to partying after Colombia's WC elimination. He sure is scoring a lot for a tubby guy.

Piscu, I've never really followed him before coming to River. Strange career. 6 years in the prime of his career playing in the Qatari league, and then off to China. He's certainly talented playing as AM or on the wing. 4 assists in 5 games is super impressive as well. His vision is great. This could be the best River team in quite a few years, if these guys keep the good form up. Carlos Sanchez included.

Gallardo... Club legend, but he is quite young and inexperienced. We'll see how he does when River actually faces some adversity. Plus Libertadores is an entirely different level, and one that will be interesting to see how he manages the squad for.

Man. Gallardo, Piscu, AMs... Makes me wish Juve would sign an AM.
