Notoriously wily director general Moggi has been known to play the press with contradicting statements, so newspapers aren’t reading too much into the comments.
 I love how they say it so matter-of-factly

Montero was very good during Coppa America. Many say he was the best defender in the competition.
I guess that should just about explain why this tournament isnt taken so seriously...............

Thats no fair... I saw the Copa, and I saw Montero playing, he was veeery good, in fact it has been a while since I don't see Montero playing that good, maybe Copa America is not like the Euro, but that has nothing to do with Montero's performance, he did a great tournament...

IMO he's getting older, and keep up with those performances for a full season

I thought he played fine, but he was going up against lesser competition- Brazil and Argentina were fielding second and third string players.......

Guys, just keep an open mind for my following opinion. Let the squad be... We are really underestimating the new coach factor. Players respond differently to different coaches and players can change with new coaching. We do have great players, and enough of them, its just that some of them have ridiculous habits that are fixable. And it is because of these habits that we loose our faith in them. Concerning our strikers, we must not forget all the possible formations that we can play with versatile players like kapo and nedved and miccolli. Please do not take the signing of kapo lightly because we got him for free. He is player with great potential and he CAN play supporting striker. Look at how chelsea play without a real centre forward, they score tons of goals. So even if Del Piero or Trezeguet get injured we still have so many options. Miccoli, nedved and kapo in attack has great potential. Remember that time Man UTd wanted to by kapo because they needed a forward?

With emerson and tachi we can now again have a dominating midfield and imagine how much fun our attacking midefielders will have with such freedom knowing that they have adequate cover. Dont underestimate tachi also please, he does what he has to do and there are so many tactical things he does that doesnt include tackling but more plugging holes and positioning that isnt easy for most people to pick up - but you can be sure that the coaches see this.

I guess my overall point is that we must not overlook the fact of one of the most intersting challenges of coaching: developing and guiding players and working with what you have already.

And I truly believe in having a small squad and not letting players sit on the bench forever. I believe that it is a great injustice to have too many players and prohibiting there development by not playing them.

I give you credit for your optimism, but lets be realistic....

Our squad lacks the depth and skill of Milan, Inter, and Roma

Roma? I dont beive in roma, they signed many players. But none of them are better of their previous players.

Out Samuel - In Ferrari... Theres no doubt there

Out Zebina - In Mexes... I know Mexes is a good signing, but he is not prooven in Italy, Zebina is. Im not saying i prefer Zebina infront of Mexes, but atleast i know Zebina can play good in Italy.

Out Emerson - In Perrotta ... No doubt there

Out Capello - In Prandelli

In my eyes Roma has only becommed weaker.

Inter on the other hand buy world class players every transfer compaign, they need time to adapt. And they havent won anything in 12 years, so they dont bother me at all.

Milan on the other hand, is the only team in Italy with a complete defense, midfield and attack.
So they should be the one to fear.

I have watched Mexes in pre-season games, and he IS the real deal !!!!

Look at Roma's defensive lineup. ours is no comparison....

Panucci----Mexes---Ferrari-------Chiuvu (or Mancini)

No im not comparing our defence to Roma, i personly just think they are weaker than last campaign.

On the paper, romas defence might be the closest to perfect. But its still to young, and its hard to judge them before they have played together in a while.

I didnt know Mancini could play LB though

I'm with Vinman on this one... Roma have one of the best defensive lineups in the world.

and Mexes showed his class here in the US!! I was very impressed and dissappointed at the same time as juve should have bought him.

Yes, they are young, but dont forget who Roma's new coach is!!

He worked wonders with Parma's young players last season

Like i said, it still to soon to judge them. Prandelli is fantastic with young players. But this situation is a bit different. The defence need to get along with 3 different nationalities and probably a 4 mans defense. Chivu, Mexes and Ferrari have never played football together, and their communication may lack, maybe they need to adapt to each other.

If Prandelli can make that defense run, then he only gets more respect from me. And i know, if there is someone who can make it work, its Prandelli!

Mancini can play on either side, both in the midfield and defense

Agreed. Although we should probably wait to see him when Serie A starts to make a proper judgement, he was amazing in the Champions World Series.

Roma are weaker now for sure...they had champions like samuel and emerson and replaced them with younger stars. but in 2 years time, they will have a great team and it will benefit. its a long term fix rather than a short term fix as such.

1 Inter
2 Milan
3 Juve
4 Roma
that is the situation right now but with 2 signings the situation will chane in a drastic way
1 Juve
2 Inter
3 Milan
4 Roma
I think that Inter could be better than Milan because they have many great players but what they always lack is someone in the middle Edgar Davids the same role that Real always lack and they get Vieira the same role we were lacking on our last campaign!
Our poor defence wasn`t just because of our defence it is also because we were missing the organizer we used to have Edgar Davids and now Emerson got here but even though he is here we still need to make some signings to the defence

i disagree.de rossi will prove to be a revelation imo,and dacourt has proven last season that he is quality.mexes and ferrari combined are better than samuel for sure.imo they have only gotten stronger this season.

the only void they have failed to adequately fill is the one left by capello, but the squad is younger now and fits prandelli very well.
