I could really care less about how much money you make a year. I fought fire, scuba dived, cut trees, wrote grants, arranged meetings between prospective partners, etc when I was in the real world and found out if I want to make more money I need to get a degree to progress in related fields. I even paid all my bills, car insurance, rent, etc. I pay all that now, in fact I pay my own tuition and I work on the weekends. That's a pretty real world, but I wouldn't expect you to know because you look down on things like education, progression, and knowledge.
