Should or should we not sell Del Piero? (1 Viewer)

I dont completely agree. Of course most players peak at around 27/28, but there are also players who might peak at 23 or 24 (like Buffon for example). And this was just an example, there is no fixed rule, I just believe that players should be sold right before the drop in value becomes too steep for their contribution to the team: That would mean that some players should stay at the club longer if their performances can justify the loss in value. That is not the case with Del Piero.
But, who's going to buy all of these players? If Juve doesn't want them, then why would some other club with enough money want them?

IMO we should buy or sell player on reason purely on result-on-fieldwise ... not because of age and value...
That's wronk tho IMO. You need to refund some money you spend on a player, you cant buy a player for, say 30 mil €, and let him finish his career in the club. You need to sell him further to make back at least part of the money so you can buy a replacement.

I still feel Alex can contribute on the field. However, having said that, he doesnt have the kind of quality Juve need to demonstrate in attack, and its better letting him off, so he can finish his career the way he deseres - playing first team football (which is going to be very hard to come by with the arrival of Mutu). Besides, there is no way Id like Alex to move to Japan, because that would negate all future possibilities with the Azzuri as well. I think I'd relate with Alex being sold to a Bologna or a Fiorentina who would offer us a decent rate in comparsion to say, a Chelsea who would be a little more realistic about his services. And to be honest, i would rather a Dp sale fund a Cassano purchase than a swap for Mutu, if at all Cassano is part of the bigger picture. Yes, it'll be the saddest day for every Juve fan in the entire decade, but i guess, that's life, you have to move on. Even if it means sacrificing sentiment for the greater good of the team.

We don't need to sell Del Piero to refund some of his original 500k or so transfer fee to be able to afford a replacement. In fact,we just got one for free. That's one added incentive for us to keep him.

Besides,we do need five strikers to compete competitively. In fact, you said so yourself;)

I think Mutu Will fit in under Ibra once he gets here. BTW, selling DP to Japan is a crime, a sweet guilty crime knowing we've unloaded some load we don't need and earned some money in the process.

Sorry for Del Piero lovers, I used to like the guy too. he's great off the pitch, but he's just not putting in the performance. In his current form, I don't know how any of you could put him above Trezeguet, or Zalayeta.

Frankly speaking, I think even Zalayeta > DP ATM. Even though he doesn't play much, when u want him to score, he does the job. At times he scored for us, when he came on juz as a sub.

I disagree. Del Piero has been inconsistent this season, but despite playing much less than Zlatan because of injuries and Capello he is still our topscorer.
