That's all very well, but we're not talking about girls. Just accents.

I've never actually heard a Scottish woman speak other than in Trainspotting.
Same here but im assuming that only woman would find a Scootish accent sexy. For me some of the English girls from the south have very sexy accents although they are complete mingers.

I voted for Ireland at the time but that was purely due to patriotism :p. I should have voted Northern Ireland. I love those Nordie accents.:lick:

Also, the poll is very flawed. There isn't one Irish accent, just like there isn't just one Southern English etc...

Also South Africa is a natural english speaking country. I doubt any of you have heard one though & not not talking about the shite accents that the afrikaaners speak.

When i was in the states a few years back,i was having the time of my life due to the accent.

After watching District 9, I now think I've heard a lot of the different SAfrican accents. The Dutch one is funny, the farmer/hick/redneck one is retarded (surprise surprise), and the British one is a blend of every English accent ever lol.

The colored accent I thought was "African". Like English was a foreign language to them.

You do realise that that's the native Scottish language, not just a really strong accent? :p

It sounds a lot like Irish though and I understand quite a lot of it. I'd probably understand more of it it were written down.

Duhh. I knew it was a diff language but I figured it was Irish Gaelic or whatever it's called. Didn't know it was from Scotland.

Byrone, is Leonardo DiCaprio's accent in Blood Diamond like any of the South African accents you've mentioned?
That was a pretty 'cool' accent. I liked his Creole better though. That was just awesome.

I was joking about it being a different language.

If it was Irish I'd understand most of it.

By the way, there's 3 different Gaelic languages. Irish, Scottish, and Manx (Isle of Man).

So is Irish Gaelic dying out?
Yeah, definitely. It's taught in all schools here but once people leave school most will never use it again. There are some small regions dotted around the country (mostly in the west) where it's the main language and people speak it fluently.

The green areas on this map are the only places where Irish is the predominant language.

What's even worse is that most fluent Irish speakers are old people, my grandparents' generation.

Not really some speak english as a first language & others afrikaans but what makes it real fucked up is that they mix the two languages together.:D Kinda like englikaans.
