The Bianconeri are currently five points clear of the Grifoni at the top of the Second Division and the tactician is hoping to extend that advantage at the end of another 90 minutes.
“It’s a clash with a direct competitor,” noted the Frenchman on Friday. “We could increase our lead and have one less match to play.
“Nevertheless, even if we win the promotion issue won’t be over. We took a small step ahead against Napoli and we will try to take another one tomorrow.”
Juve have a great home record but will have to be at their best against the Rossoblu as they will arrive in Turin on fire, having won their last five League games.
“Genoa are an excellent team, well-built and one which was strengthened during the winter,” continued the ex-Monaco boss.
“They are coming here to do their best, aware that they can only obtain something positive from this match.
“However, it might also be easier for us to play sides like Genoa or Napoli. They are teams who try to play football, rather than just defending.”
The first meeting between the two sides at the Stadio Ferraris in December ended with a 1-1 draw, a game which saw Pavel Nedved red carded and subsequently banned for five games.
“Pavel remembers what happened and he has learned his lesson,” added DD. “It was a negative episode, for him and for us, because we had to do without him for a month and a half.”
Tomorrow’s game will also give the Juve fans a good look at Domenico Criscito, a defender who will return to Turin at the end of the season.
“It won’t be tomorrow’s match that will make me change my mind about him,” underlined Deschamps.
“He is one of the best young defenders around and he’s ready for Serie A, even if he still needs to mature and he can calmly do so here with us.”
