Deschamps fears Frosinone
Friday 27 October, 2006
Didier Deschamps warns that Frosinone could be more of a threat to Juventus’ unbeaten run than one of the giants.

“Our opponents have nothing to lose and will play with a relaxed state of mind,” warned the Coach ahead of Saturday’s clash.

“In a certain sense, these teams are more dangerous than the so-called big sides, as they don’t open up and it becomes difficult to find space. It’s what happened at Triestina last week and Frosinone also have quality, especially in attack.”

It’s an important week for the Bianconeri, who face promotion contenders Brescia in Wednesday’s rescheduled match – moved due to the number of players away on international duty – and then the big Monday visit to Napoli.

This evening Juventus should also discover the verdict of the CONI Arbitration appeal against their 17-point Calciopoli penalty.

The time of the announcement was expected for 17.00 UK time, but has been postponed until around 20.00, it’s rumoured because the Fiorentina issue is taking longer to resolve.

“Obviously we hope in a reduction, but if other sides continue to pick up points, then the head to head battles will be decisive.”

The Turin giants are still unbeaten in Serie B with one draw and six consecutive victories, having already wiped out the 17-point handicap.

“With a penalty, even if it’s reduced, it’ll be very difficult for us to earn promotion without going through the play-offs unless we manage to win the direct confrontations.

“We cannot afford to let our foot off the gas even for a second, as we’ve seen how we struggle if we do. We don’t believe that wearing a Juventus jersey is enough to guarantee victory.”

Federico Balzaretti returns to the squad in place of the suspended Giorgio Chiellini, while Matteo Paro should step in for Giuliano Giannichedda. Alessandro Del Piero is expected to start in search of his 200th goal for the club.
