Not a very good match by Juve today, they were slwo and sluggish, rather than simple passes they kept on trying to do complex and hard ones, we didnt deserve to win. The Legro-Boum partnership seems to be working quite well. IMO both goals were the fault of Birindelli as for the first one he went into the middle were there was noone and expected Marchionni to be able to run back from midfield and mark a player behind him. While for the second goal Birindelli let Del Core have a free header which ended up at Papa Waigo, who was not marked properly by Chiellini.
I don't know what came into DD's mind playing a 4-3-3 away from home against a team which loads the midfield and is quite fast. Also i don't know why he took off Marchionni, who even though he had a quiet game did more than most of our players, and put Balzaretti instead, if he had taken off Birindelli i would have understood and agreed with DD, but taking off an attacking player and putting in a defensive one is stupid especially when we were draw 2-2 at that time.
Also he took too long to put in the second substitute, who was Bojinov, he waited till the 82nd minute, while none of our strikers did anything in the attacking part of the field from the 65th minute.
Zalayeta might not be the most technical player but he was always running back into midfield and even defence in order to help out the team and regain the ball for the team. Del Piero had his worst match i have seen in ages, while Trezeguet didn't do too badly, always running for the ball trying to create more options for his team-mates.

Ratings

Buffon:
Didn't really have to make many saves, he could not have done anything to stop the two goals occuring. Made two good saves in the match, one from Sabato and one from Del Core. 6

Birindelli:
He has been a good back-up player over the years and never complains, but today he had a torrid time, most of his crosses went directly out or to a Cesena player. At the end of the season we should thank him for his loyal services and let him go. 5

Boumsong: Over time he has grown more accustomed to the way we play and is growing in confidence, had one good chance to score but the header went over. Played well in defence and was solid together with Legro, one of the better players on the pitch today, and made a few runs out of defence to step up attacks. 6

Legrottaglie:
IMO nicola was the man of the match, he put in a good performance and is shwoing the potential he had while he was at chievo. Since coming back from his injury suffered against Napoli he has been putting in solid performances and has formed a good partnership with Boumsong. If he keeps up these performances he would be a good back-up next season to whoever we buy as a CB. 6.5

Chiellini: Made many very good sliding tackles to stop Papa Waigo from setting up counter attacks, he distributed the ball well when he was in defence, but once he stepped over the halfway line he seemed to lose his touch, not many good crosses for the head of Trezeguet or Zalayeta. His defensive game is good and always improving, but his attacking side needs to be worked on a bit. He did well with the long throw to set up the first goal of Trezeguet5.5

Marchionni: Marco gave some good crosses but never managed to find his flow in the game. Couldn't utilise his pace to the full due to certain factors, but tried his best. Marco still hasnt been performing with Juve the way he was when he was with Parma. Will he be a replacement for Camo if he decides to leave? With these performances Juve better look towards Ribery.5

Marchisio: He is still young and has to learn many tricks of the trade, but he is not good enough for Juve at this moment in time. When playing a 4-3-3 at least one of the three midfielders must be a destroyer ala Gattuso, Davids or Makelele. I wouldn't blame Marchisio's quiet performance on him but rather on DD who should have played a different midfielder instead of Marchisio. 5

Nedved:
One of our best players on the night which is not saying much as it was not a very good performance by his usual high standards. Good play to score his goal, but it was quite lucky in the end as if it were not for the deflection it would have gone straight into the goalkeeper. All youngsters should try to have as much will to play and do well as Nedved, but he needs to learn how to control his temper. He could have easily gotten sent off for fouls he made and protesting too much. DD was right to take him off as in the second half he was nervous and not doing much. 6

Zalayeta:
Many people may not like him, but he was one of the players who tried the most this evening and was always running even when he could have left it. Many times during the match he ran down into midfield or even defence to try win the ball back for the team. Never really had an opportunity on goal but tried his best to set up as many opportunities as possible. If Zalayeta was fast, he would be a beast and would be wanted by clubs all over the world. 6

Del Piero: Il Capitano...the worst match i have seen him play in ages. wasted too many freekicks, always tried to dribble even though there would be Zala or trez open. He might be the symbol of Juve and the idol of many fans, but he should think about the team as a whole and not just try to win the top scorer prize. If he had not been so selfish, we could be celebrating a win rather than being disappointed at a draw. 5

Trezeguet: I think he did well in this match as rather than being static in the box all the time he ran towards the flank and half pitch to get the ball and redistribute it. Took his goal well even though it hit him rather than the other way around. Tried hard to score another goal or set one up for his team mates. He wasn't invisble like he usually is on the football pitch. 6

Balzaretti: Tried a few crosses after he came on, the only reason i can think of why he doesnt start instead of Birindelli on the right is because of experience. Balza combined well with Chiellini on the right a few times, but was largely quiet for the time he played. 5.5

Bojinov: was only on the pitch for 13 minutes including injury time. He was left too late and should have been brought on before for Del Piero who could barely run towards the end of the game. Its a shame DD doesn't utilise boji much and we will be punished once he joins another club. Couldn't really do anything after he came on as Cesena threw all bodies in defense bar Papa Waigo. Had one good control on the chest but the action ended in nothing. N/V

Bianco: Sensless substitution, would have put on Venitucci or De Ceglie instead for a bit of pace. Tried to string together a few passes but the defence was too tight for any to filter through. N/V

DD: He should have really taken advantage of how quickly Cesena lost their lead into a deficit. Shoudl have introduced De Ceglie and Bojinov earlier in order to stretch the opponents defence and score a third goal on the counter attack. Made a huge mistake taking out our fastest player and putting on Balza, rather then taking out Birindelli. We should still gain automatci promotion but performances like this will not cut it in Serie A and we might not even get a Uefa Cup spot. 5

today really exposed that, the slightest sign of pace and we were torn apart, was just wantching chelsea arsenal on the highlights and essien is a monster, what a player, imagine him in our midfield.....
Man, you're talking about the successor of Gattuso, but Essien is more effective offensively. The man owned Arsenal's midfield today in the second half. He is worthy every penny Chelsea paid to land him on Stamford Bridge.

i was amazed by essien in chelsea's match. When he was playing in defence he headed the ball out from the box, went sprinting to close down the guy who got the ball towards half pitch and won a throw in! Also the way he through himself at the ball for the goal was brave. he didnt seem to care if he got kicked in the face as long as chelsea scored nad where in with a chance of winning

I hope he learns his lesson and sticks to what works. What a dumbass, changing the formation mid-season with a group of players selected for a specific style of football. I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO dissappointed.

I'm pretty sure he played 4-3-3 because he had limited midfielders at his disposal..

What happened to the forums?

Buffon 6.5 made a world class save and a few decent ones, conceded twice but not his fault

Chiellini Our fastest defender, many times he was our only chance of blocking that papa waigo guy, he was too fast for everyone else,
a fine job overall, needed more help though 6.0

Boumsong ok i m convinced by now, he ISNT Juve material and he will never will be, drop him as soon as possible,
he let Legro look like a decent defender! his contribution was limited on a few good passes upfront, he was playing too deep, in enemies territorry for a CB, naturally he wasnt there to block enemy waves 5.0

Biri He will retire this year, wont he? it looks that way, his crosses were less helpful than ever... 5.5

Legro At this age he is better and more exp than ever, "ready-er" than Boum-Bang-Gone and younger than Biri! 6.0

Marchionni, Impressive at times, he really tried hard to proove him self but he was always a step behind... 5.9

Zalayeta, He changed almost every position on the midfield and attack today, he was quite helpfull, i would like to watch him entrusted AMF roles again 6.0

Neddy, Just like the Romanian speaker said, if you are a Juventino, you ve got to looove Nedved, he really is adorable, the finest exemple always, his long shots was 1/3 of our real attacking chances and his side was the only one producing smth 7.0

Treze he scored and then dissapeared again, he tries miserable to help building up our game when it wasnt necessary and "never" was there to meet Biri,Marcio,Chiellini or Neddy's crosses, he once scored though... 5.5

DP Not his best day, Zala did his job creating, not quite the way DP does though, Treze wasnt there to receive the balls, as he should, so our captain, who always understands the needs of our team, tried to be everywhere and replace their roles insteed of just completing them, though a lack of energy and inspiration halted his performances 5.4

Marchisio, I like this guy, he has potential, he needs to grow stronger, he is fast, smart, passionate, he can become a v.good player, but he is not in a position to lead Juve's midefield just yet, not even in serie B 5.9

Balzaretti, by the time he was introduced, Papa Waigo was half exausted and never had any chances again, DD should have tried that earlier, we needed another fast man on the left wing 6.0

Bianco WHO???

Bojinov Had just a few swcs and only two times with the ball, first he simulated and then passed to an adversary, good luck in France...

DD well. i m not a hater like Vinni,(yet) but i will be if DD stays for another year,
DD today tried out smth new, another experiment, the season is about to end and he still didnt figured out some things, i hope he was just an experiment too and we get to have a decent coach to built a team that would survive serie A... 4.9

Why don't we discover a monster like him? I know it isn't an easy job, but it isn't impossible as well. I remember when people kept on saying that Diarra is the same as Essien, at that time I wasn't following the former. But since joining Madrid, I've been sure that there is no defensive midfielder in Europe as the same age as Essien can be compared to him.

the thing about DD is that he doesnt learn, such bad decisions today probably cost us the match, i no the midfield was down the its bones but he should have played palla on the left, hes an idiot and he'll be an idiot for a long time to come, we cant keep him next year

Completely agreed. And I want to add that Lampard has been off form this season, but even if he hasn't, Essien would still be the best Blue this term. Essien is a versatile soccer machine.

yeah lamps hasnt been up to his normal standards which is unfortunate because hes great to watch when hes playing well, saying that though drogba has been sensational this season so that further compliments essiens form, and the guy is still only young, i shudder to think what more could come form him hes already on of the most complete midfielders ive ever seen play the game

We're going to start with him. Juve management can't justify dumping him after promotion.

But, I am with you... I am not a fan of his and am concerned about how we'll fare next season with him making the calls. He just doesn't make good decisions. Our record doesn't reflect his coaching, it reflects the higher level of talent we have over the other teams. Next season we will not have that luxury for the most part. Only then will management really see if DD is as poor of a coach as we the fans think he is.
