Chiellini was class.

Melo and Diego decent.

Ekdal had a great game too.

But worrying thing is that we struggle against teams that do not try to attack us and sit back.

Tiago was playing the best football I've seen him play in a juve shirt when we employed him in the 4-3-1-2. Is he injured now or something?

Poulsen must not be playing by the lines, he does not have de dribbling, pace, or crossing. His place should be in the MC. The creative wingers we have are Gio and Camo, is there any chance that Diego could play wide by the lines? Or as a second striker?

Dang. I think a plain CM like him or Marchisio to balance out the formation an ideal 4-3-1-2 would be

CM-DM-CM
AM

even

CM-CM-CM
AM

but we play

DM-DM-LB
AM

I just can't see this working even if it is only untill our injured players are back.

I think the best option till we recover a CM is 4-2-3-1

Yes, Tiago are Marchisio have looked good in this formation, I guess they would be CM while Poulsen is DM. Diego needs somebody to exchange passes with, the team looked good against Haiffa with the 4-2-3-1, I bet if the pitch was dry even better.

Actually today it was:
DM----------DM-----------LB
AM

Or better:

RB------CB-----CB------LB
DM----------DM-----------LB
AM

It wasn't a tight midfield, we had width, and it's good how Ciro noticed that we need width, but the players he chose were... :howler:

Poulsen

I wasn't trying to demonstrate width but your point is a very valid one anyway, it just goes to show that in trying to cover the poor fullbacks whilst staying true to our formation, ciro has well and truely overstreched the three man midfield, maybe this is why melo has only looked half the player he usually is, he's just stranded in the middle alone.
It's no secret that for this formation to work we need great fullbacks, that unfortunetly we don't have.
Therefore the 4-3-1-2 is just not right, I feel sorry for ciro in this respect because this was obviously his master plan.
Like I said we need the CM's to balance out this 3 man midfield as they are better at finding space than our DM's, space is the key to dominating a midfield which is the vital area on the battle field, notice how mesured passes into neat spaces for another midfielder are far more effective than 3 DM's throwing their weight around in desparration for the ball. A RB that can play football would do this formation a wold of good too.
But for the times like this ciro really should have a back up plan.
and that's the inexperience talking

Don't even start that shit again. They did their job in buying class players. Now it's up to the manager and team.
