It was probably nothing, it looked like he was giving him instructions when he entered but then Matri got injured and he told him to sit down.
:agree:

Conte seems to be very passionate, so he was probably just giving him instructions indeed. I wouldnt read too much into that just because the camera happened to catch that moment.

A win is a win,and we had at least 2 more chances, which should have been converted, Giaccherini was not that bad,Pepe was worse IMO,Vucinic looked unfit but still showed showed bits of good plays,I am however, worried about Chiello..Midweek match is only a few days away,I hope he recovers in time.. We should see,Krasic and Vidal come next match. take off Pepe,Giach still did more than Pepe.

We don't give away as much at the back, but from the midfield up, the performance was rather poor. The commentator kept saying how it was really hot and humid, so that might've had something to do with the slow pace of the game. Pepe and Giacch don't quite offer enough going forward, I definitely agree with you there. We really need to up creativity from the wings, but I think we kept this formation because we play again midweek. We'll see Krasic, Elia and Vidal in action I'm pretty sure.
Yeah, midfield and attack weren't particularly feisty against a Siena side, that needs to be worked on. I think Vidal and one of the wingers will make the team mid week, even that will be noticeably positive.

Pepe set up the goal for heavens sakes. He actually took the game on in that moment by running forward and booting a great long ball straight to the feet of Giacherrini. Marchisio never would have done that. He deserves a 3 for doing absolutely nothing all game, misplacing passes and being a lazy coward.

Buffon: 4.5 - had nothing to do during the match, then decided to try a stupid dribble that could have cost us 2 points. An experienced player like him should know better. I'm subtracting points simply because of who he is.

Lichsteiner: 6 - did what he needed to do. Can't fault him for not linking up well with Giacch, who was useless. Put in more useful crosses than him too.
Barzagli: 6.5 - has started the season pretty well. Had a bit of a slip-up but made up for it.
Chiellini: 5.5 - was doing ok until he got injured. Hope it's not too serious.
Grosso: 6 - surprisingly good. No mistakes in defence and actually emphasised how bad Pepe was.

Giaccherini: 4 - simply shouldn't be playing for us. Even his pass that led to Vucinic's assist wasn't very good. He's too weak and lacks creativity.
Marchisio: 3 - Very very poor. I don't remember seeing a useful tackle or pass the whole match.
Pirlo: 5.5 - was surrounded by schmucks, but had some moments of class.
Pepe: 4 - I really don't understand why people keep defending this guy. He's got some pace and works hard, but has absolutely no skill. Probably the most frustrating player to watch.

Vucinic: 5.5 - was generally pretty poor, but he didn't get much service after all, and actually did really well to set up the goal, so extra marks.
Matri: 5.5 - hard to blame him since he's a target man, but he's not good enough to get involved in build up play. Well taken goal though.

Vidal: 6.5 - absolute beast. Was all over the place making tackles and interceptions. Watch and learn, Claudio.
Del Piero: 5 - should have had an assist to either Vidal or Pepe, but waited too long to pass it off, although Vidal should have done a lot better.
Bonucci: 5 - didn't do much, but showed that he doesn't have the composure to be the world class CB that we need.

Conte: 4 - poorly chosen starting lineup, and left himself in a position where he needed to make 4 or 5 subs. He took way too long to make replacements, and I never want to see Giacch and Pepe starting together again.

Don't know if they were arguing or Conte was just giving him directions in an animated way. Either way its normal to cop a spray from your manager.
I am sure it was the latter, just looks like the type of coach Conte is, Krasic gave him a pat after it and Conte did as well.

We played without this players for at least a part of the game:

Vidal, Krasic, Elia, Chiellini, De Cegile, Vucinic

All of them are expected to be starters.

I think a positive is that we have some depth now, and can win even with some subs on the field. But still think that a serious injury to Vidal would make us a mid table team. So here's to hoping he is fit.
