I wasn't even this disgusted against Inter. Against such mediocre opposition I've just witnessed the most gutless Juve performance under Conte, absolutely shameful and I don't think any of them managed to redeem themselves in the second half. I don't know if they thought the game was in the bag, or that they were God's gift to football, but I find it pretty inexcusable for those players to perform like that just days after one of their best performances. I really hope they didn't share the same attitude as 90% of this forum though, because we've been in a similar position to Milan and won big derby games against them and Inter very recently. These types of games heavily rely on mentality.

Everything was so languid wasn't it? Half the effort required from everyone. And it's very easy to draw a comparison up to a previous game as well, with the effective and intensive display against Chelsea. As soon as Juve got possession in mid week, you had 3 or 4 different players moving rapidly off the ball, and there was a lot more intensity in pressuring and playing the game. Players fought to get to the ball, and possession moved around cleanly. A lot of jogging and ambling tonight, which is disastrous against a counter attacking side. I dislike the attitude of some of our players as well, rolling around on the floor feigning injury. Bonucci clutching his face in the first half while Milan ran at his other two centre backs (part of Serie A that I really dislike). A lot of attitude problems actually, just looked like nobody was urgent to get the game moving until the final 5 minutes as if they suddenly realised that it was desperate to gain a goal. For example, a free kick was given against Bonucci in the final 10 minutes near the touchline, and instead of getting on with the game he held the ball in his arms and complained at the ref, effectively stopping play and wasting time. He did the same against Bologna in the last 2 minutes (that time arguing over a throw in) and I was prepared to have a go at him for that but eventually a win came from nowhere so couldn't be bothered. I remember the same attitude in a game last season, against Udinese away from home (game finished 0-0). Pepe was being substituted in the second half, so he went over to the far side of the pitch and was basically walking off when his number was called. I have no idea why he did that. I'm rambling now though.

The time wasting was recurrent, loads of silly fouls when there shouldn't be, loads of complaining to the referee to keep the ball out of play. It's frustrating as a fan to see the players "buy time" for Milan like that, allowing them to do every single time wasting trick in existence. The only thing missing was desperate 30 metre shots.

A combination of Juventus failing to pass properly and Milan pushing players into surrendering possession led to that first half anyway. Pirlo was left for dead on several occasions on the break because Milan actually got on with the game, creating many 3v3 situations. First half sealed it as Milan needed a goal to sit back and absorb pressure to counter more conservatively. I thought De Jong was pretty good, but Milan weren't really performing that ruthlessly, it was mainly Juve undoing themselves.

I'm going to need a decent screenshot or photo of that penalty incident. Replays on screen showed it to be very close between hitting an arm or back, then I can get into discussing whether players should have their arms raised in the box or not.
You hit the nail on the head, well said.

CL is more important anyway.
We can win Serie A even with this occasional loses.
The truth is that even if they revoke 10 more Scudetti from us we will still have more than anyone else. Europe needs to be conquered soon, it's been too long.

PS it will take a tragic miracle a la 1999-00 for us not to win Scudetto this season.

Shite performance, don't like seeing that sort of mentality and that complacency from the lads. I know we most likely do have one eye on the CL match against Shakhtar, but playing Milan at the San Siro requires you to get out of second gear at some point.

All that said, Milan are absolutely fucking terrible and really do play like a mid table team. Just pathetic, definitely won't be playing in the CL next season.

Absolutely crappy performance from all the guys, especially the forwards, lazy, depending too much on the mids who didnt play all that well either. Isla was crap, true, but most of the attacks still went from his side in the first half, rarely saw Asamoah on the first half, i still cant believe that Isla's crosses are worse than Molinaro's..

I really hope that this is gonna be our last lost,I really hope we go and win it all now, and Shakhtar will be the first..

Come on Juve!!
Damn I miss having Del Piero in the team!

we didn't play that crap IMHO, it just bilan got their revenge of gol di muntari, the penalty was 100% unfair lol, the ball actually bounced off nocerino's arm so now way in hell anyone could've avoided it and objectively it was 100% not intentional mistake... rofl if isla punished then why the fuck nocerino didn't lol what a joke...

the managerial mistake was not switching to 4-3-3 in the 2nd half with mirko - quaq - gio upfront, wewouldn't had lost since I'm pretty sure those 3 would've tore milan's defense apart. and bilan surely played like some midtable to bottom team lol, we can all be sure they will drop more points so actually their winning this time can mean nothing lol

I really didn't care about the result in the end, even if we had lost 3-0. What hurts is the approach to this game from our players and coaches. That wasn't Juventus last night, that was just some average team.

Let's just hope this will be another wake up call, because if we play like this against Shaktar, we will get slaughtered. At this point, Shaktar match scares the shit out of me. :scared:

I'm not worried about Milan's scudetto chance at all (as are other people), it's fucking Inter though who's knocking on our door. The most disgusting team of all.

For me the problem is that we think we're good, and in more than one match this season we've put less in than we would have done last year. We got away with that up until now, but a particularly bad technical performance and the ref saw us off in this one.

Once we start thinking we are good we'll stop actually being that, great teams don't show that by just turning up. We put a lot into games to get where we are under Conte, and I didn't expect this to be a fixture where we take over an hour to bother trying to get anywhere near that level.

- - - Updated - - -

a team in Milan's situation need an injection of confidence like today's game - not so much the result thanks to a non-existent PK but the overall performance of the team.
I thought Milan just played the game how a mid-table team facing Juve would, I really don't know how else to put it to make it sound less harsh. They got 8 players behind the ball when Juve attacked, and countered. The only difference being a shift in quality with the counter attacking, given Milan's better front three than those teams. It was a tactic which lowered Milan's standard, to get a result in this game. We've seen this tactic from every from Fiorentina to Genoa to Cagliari to Chievo.

Juve being completely useless in the final third, with the Vucinic-Quagliarella partnership that doesn't work playing directly into Milan's hands. The penalty just decided a win, or else you have a mediocre team against a mediocre performance and a 0-0.

It'll be a confidence boost, but I'll be fucked if I see Milan playing like that against other sides in the league. It was a one off show that will mean nothing in the context of the season.

I was going to compare it to how our 7th placed teams played at home to Inter and Milan, but we were much better in those than anything Milan had to show, we took the game to those teams.

That what bothers me the most too. There were a lot of matches were we hought we could wind playing without full effort, only to see that we need to turn up in the second half and spend even more energy.

I don't get this tactic, and I don't think it comes down to mentality of the team, but rather coaches orders. I would like to see that we bring it on from the start, and if we have a lead and control we then bring the tempo down and rest, not the other way round.

Yeah true, there has been a strong whiff of arrogance about this team for most of the season.

Now, having a bit of swagger when you play and knowing you're the best is fine, but you do need to fucking back it up by performing on the field of play. Last night was just disgraceful we got so many of the simple things wrong, just a really flat performance. You sort of expect it after a big CL game but the players do need to lift especially in the big "derby" games.

In the Milan and Chelsea games how many times did we pass the ball directly from our defense or midfield straight to an opposition player to give a dangerous counter attack? It must be 10 times between the two games, I'd love to know the stat.

I know we beat Chelsea 3-0, and we played well overall, but I thought our performance level was actually better against Lazio where it finished 0-0. Call me crazy.

I see laziness creeping into our game. Lazio were saved by Marchetti. Chelsea couldn't defend if their lives depended on it. Milan defended in numbers. I see certain areas gradually declining when we play a run of tough games consecutively. We have a week now and will most probably come out blazing against Torino, but I wonder what we'll be like in Donetsk, because I think we'll need to be 100% to get our point.

Well there's something seriously going wrong when our players turn up and say after a defeat "that wasn't us" well if you approached the games like you did last season then we wouldn't be talking like this. Conte says the best is yet to come.

Yeah you are definitely right. We do need to be at our 100% to get that point. Playing against Donestk in Ukraine in December is daunting for most teams in the world. That game in Donetsk scares the shit out of me TBH.

They are going to attack us like crazy for two reasons

1) They want top spot.

2) They can afford to attack us like crazy and even lose, because they qualify anyway - so might as well come out with all guns blazing.

I hate that we are extremely lame at counter attacking, and we are susceptible to counter attacks because of our high line and high pressure tactics. Arse biscuits.

Hehe. Still doesnt come close to trolling them with the Gol Di Muntari last season. No one will ever forget that. This "incident" will be forgotten about straight away.

Hopefully Berlusconi dies soon.
