The goal itself may have been just one episode and it may have been taken perfectly but during those 10 minutes before they scored, they were allowed all the space in the world to do whatever they want in our box.
The goal was just the finale.

if you did play football, than you would no that strict man marking without use of the offside trap is way more exhausting than remaining with the offside trap.

It makes much more sense/logic not to play the offside trap once you lead. The opposition are always faster and in-control once they're loosing/down. Having a quick feet striker will take most of the defenders easily if he's loosing, therefore any mistake in the offside trap could be costly.

Playing normal system zone defending like what Lecce did in their first half, putting 7men in their penalty area makes the opposition suffers more.... and find no space, specially when you have good players on air such as Chiellieni/Legro/Sissoko/Marchisio etc.

The guy was wide open, he was practically left alone against a helpless Manninger. We would have easilly avoided that goal had it not been for the players playing for the offside trap.

When you play against smaller teams and are leading 1-0 what is the perfect scenario you are looking for? A counter attack, right? You want an opportinity to see all the Lecce players attack and just wait for the perfect break through where you have players like Gio and Amauri that would destroy the Lecce defense when given enough space. For that to happen you have to forget about the offside trap.

Now when you do play the offside trap and you aren't a particularly talenmted team at holding up the ball all you're doing is giving the other team more and more chances to hit you with a through ball. I think it's a very risky tactic for us to play. We lost hwen played that tactic against Inter, but we won both games when we played without it against Real.

I hope you're not serious. How will that affect our chances of scoring? Del Piero with both Giovinco and Mauro playing in the middle can create absolute creativity against any team.

i don't think the offside trap is something you switch on or off... it is a defensive tactic which is learned in training and does not only influence the behaviour of the 4 defenders, but the other players too. i dare to say that it is more risky to switch to something you are not used too (dumb man marking) in the middle of the game ... and how is it more dangerous to concede a goal after you lead ? The danger is always there ... leading or not ... if the offside trap is good enough for the first 80 minutes of the game, it has to be good enough for the rest of it too ...
following that logic you could also say "ok, this striker always beats our defenders when they try to man mark him ... lets switch to the offside trap and cancel him out in this way"...

That header Castillo missed was a result of very bad marking from Marchioni's part, not the tactic Juve was playing in. In other words, they shouldn't have gotten that chance if the players were doing their job well. However, the second we start playing the offside trap they fuck us over with the equilizer.

do you remember our game vs Real when we were up by a goal and were pinned down. They couldn't do jack shit. That''s because the players were extremely focused. The Lecce chance was a result of a lapse in concentration.

As you can see, the other two big teams (especially Inter, iirc) also struggled against Beretta's tactics. Actually, apart from Roma, all the others found out that Lecce are a tough nut. They play tough defense, they play dirty and foul a lot, and even if they concede they don't lose it and they push for the equaliser.

We did play bad, but it also had a lot to do with the way Beretta set the tactics.

yea the back line has been trained to push up in all situations, and that is even more evident with our very high offside trap...it works 90% of the time, so fair enough

I was also saying that we chose the wrong aproach and we allowed Lecce to be dangerous. We could've easily avoided it.

If you stop performing at your job, than you get fired or substituted.

Marchioni is a sub. And in most of the cases he can be useful, (when Camo is injured) Why everyone is on his case..We dont have money to buy better RM sub.

Btw I saw game Arsenal vs Wigan last night where Arsenal won 1:0. Coach which i respect a lot, Wenger in 32min replaced Nasri with Eboue..Eboue played OK, but towards the end of game , he made 2-3 bad passes, just like Molinaro do every game.. And in 90th minute, as supporters were booing, he replaced Eboue with defender Silvestre??? He could take any midfielder out in last 90th minute, but he took guy who he introduced in 32nd min..

What that move can do to the confidence of a player? That was shit move by Wenger..

Imagine now, CR start replacing Molinaro, Marchioni, Nedved, Legro, and all other every time they make some silly mistakes..

CR noticed Marchioni's bad day, but he let him play bit more, and than changed him.. Marchioni was good for us when we won 6-7 games in row wasn't he !?

I'm with rab on this one, it's only natural people are going to be hating on him, especially when for some unkown reason he keeps the likes of Giovinco out, if it wasn't for iaquintas injury we might have never scored. Giovinco was pulling most of the weight on the RM. Marchionni has some of the worst passing which is awful for a RM and twice today he misplaced an easy pass which allowed lecce to flood forward on the counter. He also did this vs Palermo,( I think it was them)
For me he deserves his critisism as a starter, if he was a sub and played every now and again. As I said I've had enough marchionni for a month now.
Marchionni=molinaro of this season*
*so far, and he hasn't been as bad as moli was last season, but he has been our worst player.
