These games against the smaller clubs sometimes worry me more than playing the big ones. Lecce are going to give maximum effort today, our class should be too much for them and alot depends on how well we defend. We might only conceded one goal in our last 3 games but the problem hasn't been completed solved.

That's very true but I can't bring myself to seeing Lecce as a potential threat. Everytime I hear "Lecce", I immediately think back of our 4-1 victory a couple of seasons ago when Inzaghi got a hattrick

Lippi: ”We go to Lecce with motivations”
20 12 2003

Marcello Lippi (La Presse)

Last effort and then also 2003 will be finished. At Juventus this year will be remembered for a long time and it has already a special place in the history of the bianconero club.

Before the away match in Lecce, last official match of 2003, Lippi sums up the year of his team: “It has been an excellent year and it hasn’t been extraordinary only for a penalty in the Champions league final in Manchester. We gained more points than any other team and not just 2 or 3 but at least 12. We won a Scudetto and the Italian Supercup, we reached the final in the Champions League and probably we’ll celebrate also the France Football “Balon d’or” for Pavel Nedved”.

Great joy, then, for the team and the club but also for the coach: “Obviously a year like a coach can’t be anything else but happy. If I was decisive for some players’ performance, like Zambrotta’s? There are moments in which the coach realises that he has to make some changes: I had two good players like Zambrotta and Camoranesi and I didn’t want to leave one of them out. So I tried Zambrotta as a left-back because he had the characteristics to play in that role. But it was fundamental Gianluca’s passion and will to succeed in that change”.

In Lecce, Juventus will try then to finish this excellent year in the best possible way: “We’ll be without Tacchinardi, Thuram, Nedved and Montero. We’ll be in 19, all with great motivations: we’ve got to be like this because we’ll face a though team in a hot atmosphere. As it always happens against the big teams, they’ll try to play the match of the year also because, gameday after gameday, the tables is getting more and more important and no one wants to give you anything for free”.

btw, wasnt it against Lecce that Juve failed to score a winner and Inzaghi missed a penalty or something that cost us our scudetto??

Here's the latest lineup, according to Gazzetta Dello Sport:

Buffon
Ferrara Legrottaglie Iuliano
Birindelli Maresca Appiah Zambrotta
Del Piero
Miccoli Di Vaio

Looks like they are sticking with the 3-4-1-2 after all.

Official Line-up:

Juventus: Buffon; Ferrara, Legrottaglie, Iuliano; Birindelli, Maresca, Appiah, Zambrotta; Del Piero; Miccoli, Di Vaio. All: Lippi. A disposizione: Chimenti, Pessotto, Tudor, Conte, Camoranesi, Zalayeta, Trezeguet.

That means, Del Piero as a playmaker! Is that good?
