Ok here comes the reason for the most famous decision today.

I would first like to rub it in the face of all those who doubted me saying that Del Piero would play an important role in the second half. He fucking did! His ABSENCE made the team lose its shape.

So according to Ranieri, during the break he wanted to go for the trident then all of a sudden he remembered that we have a game against Inter on Wednesday so he opte to remove Del Piero. :lol2:
next time quote your source or else people will think you know something ;)

No man, he couldn't have said this. I really hope he didn't.
I could understand if this is the reason why he substituted him (bad decission in any case) but how much of a fool you have to be to admit that publicly.

Find some silly excuse, say that you needed speed and agility, or that you needed a player who'll put more pressure on Samp's defenders, but don't say that you subbed a player from an important league match so you can keep him fresh for some coppa italia match.
Ranieri needs to go to lessons on who to deal with the press

I didn't watch the match, but it seems there is something wrong in Del Piero's rating in the next link:

So who wants to know why was Del Piero subbed? :D
I swear i'm still not over it. I can't believe what a decision Ranieri took today. Seriously, how would Del Piero have felt today, giving it all in the 1st half and being sub later on for no reason.

Oh but there was a great reason. We'll need him for the super important first leg Coppa match.
Who cares that Fiorentina and Milan may easily take the CL spot from us.

Damn, this was a bad day football-wise :faq1: :p

Exactly, he should have also took Buffon out for the Inter game. pathetic reason he gave, as if these players can't play 90min both games.

It has been said like a thousend times today, but taking of Del Piero was absolutely total shit. He was playing very good behind between midfield and Trezeguet, he picked up balls and made actions (mostly followed by faults because they couldn't stop him in a normal way). Maybe Ranieri can try to field him behind Trezeguet and Iaquinta for once, would be great in my opinion. Palladino should be played out as a striker, I'm sick of seeing him play out of position. So much talent and potential gone wasted on that flank. Start 4-3-3 with Del Piero behind Iaquinta/Palladino and Trezeguet. Maybe not the best tactic ever, but we need some creativity and this seems alright to try it out.

You know, this is why people such as snoop who think being cautious is more suitable than playing to our strengths are wrong. We had chances to score, yes, but the fact is if we had more players up top, Sampdoria would have crumbled. It doesn't take a genius to know that Samp was coming to play for a draw today, as their away form is particulary horrid. So what happened today was we took the cautious approach instead of the logical approach, and now we have two draws since the new year. It's sad that we have so little confidence that we can't even beat one of the worst away sides in Serie A. I hate seeing such rubbish from my side.

We are Juventus for Christ's sake. Yet we are fielded like a bunch of pussies.
are you fuckin kidding me? lol

the chances we missed and two penalties stolen in the first half? Trezeguet's post, the ball that was almost in, we were controling the whole fucking first half. If Ranieri took Del Piero out and didn't play Almiron from the first place, how were we going to score goal? You told me that with playing 4-4-2 our defense will be weak, actually they couldn't even attack. And we had many chances. Come on Andy, you don't make any sense. It was Ranieri's stupid subs that fucked the whole match..

and about the Sampdoria playing for a draw, actually the discussion between me and you happened way before when we knew that Cassano and Montella were out, Without those two, you don't expect Sampdoria to act like nothing happened.
