With a player like Palladino what is the difference between the 4-3-3 I mentioned and the 4-4-2? Will he get instructions not to go upfront?
All about the defensive balance. With Palladino in midfield on the left, he both covers the left side, catching both fullbacks and midfielders. He gives support to the fullback and the central midfielders have to make up much less ground. You're much less prone to situations, where you get outnumbered.

If you want to mantain some solidity with the 4-3-3, you will need to compromise Tiago and Camoranesi's roles.

Yes but with the 4-3-3 you are not asking the outside players upfront to camp forward and not do any work on the midfield zone. I see the naming of the formation is just a technicality it is the choice of players that matters in the end. Like Sadomin says, Palladino does not stay on his side anyway neither does Camoranesi.

----------------------- Buffon ------------------

Hassan --- Boumsong --- Legro --- Grygera

----------------------- Zanetti ------------------

Camo ----------- Tiago ----------Palladino

----------Iaquinta --------- Trez -----------

Sub Zanetti with Nocerino at half time. This way atleast we either thrash them or they thrash us :D Throw caution to the wind. Go for it gangho.
would prefer the backline to be

Zebina --- Grygera --- Legro --- Hasan

No boumsong for me.

wow ur so lame, think u cool cuz ur a mod....talk about the game stop followin me around
No he is not being cool. It is actually against the rules to speak in a language other than English. Then he gave you a warning without any points. And last but not least anyone of the moderating team could have given you the warning. And the real warning comes when you complain more about moderator's decisions.

Agreed. We trash them and get some confidence back. Beating a good team like Palermo will bring back confidence

or we get trashed like hell and get a really good wake up slap (especially to Ranieri)

Palermo are 4points behind us. I don't expect an easy match, but I expect our team to win.

Things will really look complicated if we don't win this game.

Yes they are technicalities, but that's undermining the entire 'fun' of fiddling around with formations. Party-pooper.

Look at it this way. Lately we've been applying the offside trap which guarantees the opposition atleast 1 goal. That cancels out Boumsongs error rate which stands at a goal a game thus we can concentrate fully on scoring more.

Ranieri's maintenance mode (avoid defeat by any means) is not getting us anywhere. He needs to get adventurers whether we get burnt or not. Right now we just hang in there & almost do the job. Imagine if we qualified for CL like this & get toasted next year?
