This game has draw written all over it. Palermo will be on a high after beating Napoli in the southern derby and on the hand we must try to face every team with the same determination & fire as we did Inter. The days of just turning up & bagging 3 points are long gone. Wake up boys!
if our midfield gets cracking we are a very strong chance of winning.. its time ranieri had a 3man midfielfd consisting of Tiago, Zanetti & Camo!

A lot depends on our midfield performance. Play Zanetti - Nocerino and all we are asking for is a mediocre draw. Zanetti will win balls and Nocerino will boot it up back to Palermo's defence ad infintum. Playing Tiago, Zanetti & Camo could be the solution however if Tiago doesn't show up then our defence will suffer a tremendous amount of pressure & compounded by Chiellini's absence it could turn out to be a disaster. Maybe we could try this ....

----------------------- Buffon ------------------

Hassan --- Boumsong --- Legro --- Grygera

----------------------- Zanetti ------------------

Camo ----------- Tiago ----------Palladino

----------Iaquinta --------- Trez -----------

Sub Zanetti with Nocerino at half time. This way atleast we either thrash them or they thrash us :D Throw caution to the wind. Go for it gangho.

Looks very very attacking formation to me. Zanetti will have to put more than 100% on the field to cover everything.

But I like it, and since we're playing home and against a tough team, bring that formation on.

Great formation, Jack. Boumsong :weee:, that's gonna be a goal fest ;). With the better end for us of course. Trez to score twice.

Tiago is not that bad in zonal coverage and Camoranesi has often helped defending. It is very attacking because this is our only chance to score more than the opponent is given penalties. We have to play in their half of the filed and this is the only way to do it. We should not lose possession.

Well, Jack, playing your formation but with more of a 4-4-2 formation should give us a lot more stability(wich also answers your question why Palladino has been playing in midfield and not upfront). A 4-3-3, your way DOES look a little fragile to me.

You are so wrong. Ibra is plaing for Swedish national team, he refused to play for Bosnia and he is for me ( and for all Bosnia national team supporters ) a traitor. He is so supported by Ibrahimovic9 and nobody else.....

With a player like Palladino what is the difference between the 4-3-3 I mentioned and the 4-4-2? Will he get instructions not to go upfront?

I would say it's more about defensive duties than attacking. A 4-3-3 could very well become a 4-5-1 with both Iaquinta and Palladino tracking back into midfield positions.

Palladino never sticks on his wing anyway. Whatever formation we use, it would still end up like this:

-------------------------------------------Molinaro
----------------------Zanetti ------------
Camoranesi----------------Tiago-------
------------------Palladino (all over)---
Iaquinta-------------Trezeguet---------

He did make a short appearance recently and he's not listed as injured, so I guess it's all about match fitness.
Good news indeed. We need as many options as possible. It's just crazy that Tiago & Almiron are completely out of the radar although they haven't done much to sustain their positions, especially Almiron.

With our weak defence most would want a 4-4-2 so that the mid can offer a buffer to the defence. They are thinking defensive. I on the other hand think it's time to change tactics and try the 'best way to defend is to attack' theory.
