Pato To Miss Juve Clash?

Alexandre Pato could be set to heap more injury problems on Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti, as he is a doubt for tomorrow’s trip to Juventus.

The 18-year-old has had a sensational start to life in Serie A, hitting seven goals in just 14 league appearances.

Pato missed last week’s 3-1 win over Cagliari due to an injury to the abductor muscle in his thigh.

He was expected to recover in time for tomorrow’s big match against Juventus in Turin, however it seems that this will not be the case.

The Brazilian is currently rated as a doubt, with Pippo Inzaghi set to fill in as the lone frontman once again.

Pato’s injury heaps more problems on Carlo Ancelotti, who is already without a host of first team players.

Massimo Oddo is out for the season, Alessandro Nesta and Marek Jankulovski are both doubts, while Kakha Kaladze is suspended after picking up a booking against Cagliari.

Milan are struggling to qualify for next season’s Champions League as they are currently four points behind fourth-placed Fiorentina, with just six games of the season remaining.

Pippo walks down memory lane
Friday 11 April, 2008

Pippo Inzaghi is looking forward to visiting former side Juventus and has revealed his desire to play at the Olympics.

Super Pippo spent a successful period with the Old Lady between 1997 and 2001 and scored 57 goals in 120 games.

But tomorrow he will be charged with the task of slaying the Bianconeri to help keep Milan’s fragile Champions League qualification hopes alive.

“I don’t mind if I score as long as Milan win,” Inzaghi insisted in La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I have lots of friends in Turin and it wouldn’t give me any pleasure to see Juve suffer.

“The Bianconeri fans always appreciated me because they saw that I gave my soul on the pitch.

“Now I am only thinking of Rossoneri without any desire to prove myself to anyone else. But obviously Juve-Milan is a special game for me.”

One opponent that Inzaghi has the greatest of respect for is former strike partner Alessandro Del Piero.

“Alex is on great form and hasn’t been injured all season, so he has been able to train regularly throughout the campaign – that is the secret to it,” the Piacenza native explained.

“But this isn’t just a game for Del Piero and me – there are lots of other important players on both sides.

“It is always nice for me to meet friends and former teammates, like Gigi Buffon and the other work champions.

“Other than the obvious names, I also really rate Giorgio Chiellini and Mauro Camoranesi, who have the character as well as the talent.”

Inzaghi has recovered from a long-term injury and announced his return to full fitness with a crucial brace against Cagliari, prompting suggestions that he could be selected as one of Italy’s overage players for the Olympics.

“I was sidelined for a long time, but I am happy to have given my contribution in the Super Cup and the World Club Cup and I want to help in the final sprint,” he enthused.

“It would be a fascinating experience to go to Beijing, but my priority remains Milan and everything else comes afterwards.

“Nonetheless, I do have a close bond to the Azzurri shirt – if I weren’t so dedicated to Italy I wouldn’t have gone to play against the Faroe Islands after the Champions League Final.

"The national side is an honour and the Olympics is a dream,” he concluded.

No Nesta, but also no Nedved.

Squad for Milan:
Belardi, Birindelli, Buffon, Camoranesi, Chiellini, Del Piero, Grygera, Iaquinta, Legrottaglie, Marchionni, Molinaro, Nocerino, Palladino, Salihamidzic, Sissoko, Stendardo, Tiago, Trezeguet

i dont get all the hate for molinaro here. hes been one of our best players in recent weeks.

even gazzettas season ratings have him as one of our best performers.

i would go for a 433:
buffon
zebina/sali legro chiellini molinaro
camo sissoko tiago
iaq trez dp

or if its a 442 i would have tiago and momo in the middle, with palladino on the left.
