What did you think of Nocerino's performance? Most people seem to think he played well but he disappointed me.

And Tiago looked good for the time he was on.
I think Nocerino was ok, he was definitely better in pre-season but I guess it's the game's seriousness and his inexperience that made him look shaky. Another thing, he moved up the flank and had to cover a lot for Sali's runs. I see him doing much better if he does a zonal coverage in the middle.

Tiago needed the small time he got so he gets his form together.

Noce did well for DM who played as a RM i belive. Andrade started poor,he keeps on giving away possession cheaply..i guess he was nervous but then after 20 minutes he was more composed. The goal was a defensive error...Tristan outmuscled Criscito and layed a perfect header downwards for Loviso to score..Sala made poor croses today but other than these everything else was awesome. Nedved,Del Piero,Trez,Buffon the class is always there. Chielini was awesome defensively and offensively...he is gonna be immense to us.He and Nedved and Del Piero had that left side burning. Trez being the usual predator starts with a hat-trick.5-1 what else can i say....Juve is back to where they belong.top of A!

I don't think Nocerino is really suited to the right wing.

But how many of us saw 5-1 coming, though? Did we even score 5 goals in a game all last year? (OK, Arrezzo, Trestina, and Cortone don't count. :D)

And even if someone did call for that, I would flame them for being a completely blind amateur. :pint:
come on man! you know he does this for every match, and we lose once a 10-match or so, he comes with "seeeeeeeee??? I told youuuuuuu".. I wasn't expecting an easy match, and nor a 5 goals to score, but sure the hunger was written all over their and they are not that bad to beat them at home after all these frustration. We should catch the line between being a total Pessimist and over optimist. You just can't chose one of it all your life, which is the case with Vinman. You forgot how he claimed desCHUMP can't take Juve to serie A, CRAPello can't win the scudetto? ;)

Ranieri: It's not enough...

Saturday 25 August, 2007

His Juventus shot back into Serie A with a 5-1 win, but Claudio Ranieri was still not entirely happy with the performance.

“The team continued to believe in itself and played its usual style. It wasn’t easy because Livorno are strong defensively and then try to hit you on the break, but we stayed calm and waited for the right moment to pounce,” said the Coach.

“We made a few too many mistakes, though. There were a few uncertainties in defence. We were condemned in the pre-season friendlies because we were unable to take our chances, but that wasn’t an issue this time.”

David Trezeguet netted a hat-trick and substitute Vincenzo Iaquinta – who replaced Alessandro Del Piero – bagged a brace.

“It is always wonderful for a tactician to deal with so many quality forwards. I took Del Piero off because he had international duty midweek and I wanted to keep him fresh,” explained the former Chelsea and Parma boss.

Trezeguet had announced his departure the last time he played an official match at the Stadio Olimpico, accusing the club of making an “insulting” contract offer.

“When he made that gesture at the end of the game last year I was surprised, as I had already been appointed and had a very different idea of him from our meeting in the locker room. Perhaps he thought he wasn’t part of my plans. That was not the case and you can see that now.”

Livorno grabbed a late consolation goal with Massimo Loviso, but Coach Fernando Orsi did not disguise his anger on the sidelines at the 5-1 scoreline.

“It was an acceptable performance up until the 80th minute, then I got furious because we destroyed a match in which we had kept on an even keel with Juve,” he slammed.

“With those distractions we ruined everything. We could have avoided three of those goals instead of leaving the field like this.”

When asked if he missed Cristiano Lucarelli after the move to Shakhtar Donetsk or was looking at any more reinforcements, Orsi got even more upset.

“Lucarelli is not here, so there’s no point talking about him. I am happy with my players, but tonight I would have gladly head butted them all after the fifth goal. It was totally inadmissible.”

Its good to see the coach keeping his feet on the ground and demanding more.

But remember Juve 1 - 1 Rimini with Paro scoring last season? Not unreasonable to think that given the many new pieces on the club and how we've generally played in pre-season.

Nope.

We were 3-1 up away to Hibs after an hour and fucked it up to draw 3-3 cos the players are unfit.

Just as well Juve won to cheer me up a bit.
I was checking the scores and I saw you were 3-2 up.

At least Juve won, that's the important thing.

My take on the game :

Defense :
Very solid and kept livorno's attack unseen for most of the game . There were problems with the highballs partcularly from sali , he left his marker on a number of times and that could be costly against stronger teams . Criscito and Andrade are a great pair and are very solid . Chiellini had a wonderful game offensively and defensively .

Midfield :
Completely dominated the game , controlled the pace , and possesion throughout the entire game . Almiron did as he liked with the ball and gave very good passes . This guy can do it all , he can shoot , he can pass , and he can control the ball beautifully . Nocerino seemed out of position and didn't have great ball control on the right side . He helped out a lot defensively and fought for every ball . I think Ranieri should play him as a defensive midfielder rather than a right winger . Zanetti was very impressive , he was great at defense and very helpful at the offense . Tiago came on late but made a few nice moves and passes . Nedved , what can I say about this guy , he is simply brilliant . He's turning 35 in 5 days and he plays like he's 18 . Excellent touches and he's always a threat to the opponents defense .

Attack :
Del piero had a good first half , in the second half Juve needed a player of Iaquinta's style who is faster and quicker . Ranieri did a very smart and bold move . Even though Iaquinta got lucky on both of his goals , he made an immediate impact on the game and even gave an excellent pass to trez for juve's 4th . Trezeguet had the best game in a long time , 3 goals from 4 chances ; absolutely lethal . When he hits form , you can expect a bunch of goals flying in the opponents net . Great game for him .

Overall performance : Excellent game for Juve , they played professionally and with all modesty . Not to mention they played attractive football that's exciting and beautiful to watch .

Forza Juve .

My Players Rating:

Buffon: I can't recall any dangerous Livorno shoot within target (expect the goal which wasn't exactly his fault) he wasn't really tested but he was there to do the simple things 6.

Sali: Once again he combined very well with Noce, as a RB he is certainly better at going forward than defending and his versatility is something we can certainly utilize 6.5.

Andrade: Not a very good display for the Portuguese defender, he seemed a lil bit nervous at the start of the game and makes some unnecessary fouls... still he was improving by time and regaining his confidence 5.5.

Criscito: One of the best players on the field today, the good thing about him is his ability to make things done without using roughness or fouls 6.5.

Chellieni: Great first half, he involved less in the game during 2nd half but he was very good at attacking and solid when it comes to defending 7.

Nocerino: Combined well with Sali but that's was all about it, I wasn't impressed with him playing on the flanks and I don't think it is his natural position... Camo looks certainly much better out there 5.5.

Zanneti: MOM, great defensives display combined with a notable abilities to distribute the ball (He made a great pass to Neddy at second half when everybody was expecting him to shoot) a player with his Serie A experience is a must starter on my opinion 7.5.

Almiron: Good display overall, had two good chances to shoot on goal and he didn't take them well but compensate with his vision and passes 6.5.

Nedved: Al-Jazeera commenter was repeating "there is no way this is a 35 years old player he looks more like a 20" everytime he touch the ball, the old new Neddy, playing every match as it is the last in his life 7.5.

Del Piero: I was expecting him to get more involved in the game, he assist the first goal and he deserve 6.

Trezeguet: He had four good chances to score and he converted three into goals... do the math, he deserve no less than 7.5.

Iaquinta: At least his celebration of goals was for real (The PK is a complete scandal:D) he play with heart and his introduction was so important in this game 7.

Zebina, Tiago: They didn't get enough time but it was good to help Tiago to regain his confident.

Ranieri: His line up, substitutions and tactical decisions was very good he certainly passed his 1st exam successfully hope he can keep the good work on the remaining 37 games :) 7.5.

My match report and players rating:
Frist of all I'd like to say congratulations to all of us. The result was what we needed. Something to boost our morals forward. In addition the result is good because it might mean that by the end of the match day 1 we would be leading the table ;) ..
Formation: I agree 100% with the starting line up and formation.. Livorno were simply playing 11 men defence and the only way to break them is to have players who will give you creativity over speed.
Then when we were leading and we let them push forward we switched to more fast pace counter attack method.. Simple yet brilliant.

Buffon: No mistakes. The goal wasn't his fault. 6.5
Salihamidizc: Worked hard. Did well. Also no mistakes: 6.5
Andrade: looked shaky in the bigining and was out of position in few times where both Criscito and Chiellini covered him well. 6
Criscito: Player pretty well. Solid yet calm. Fixed Andrade's few mistakes. 7
Chiellini: Player really good. He was there defensively and bothered Livorno with his sprints. 7.5
Nocerino: Good game. Great potential. No serious mistake. Looked nervous in the begining of the game which is expected. He setlled in nicely and assisted Trezeguet in a goal. 7
Almiron: The man of the first half. Did a fantastic job. Was very creative and solid. Ran alot. 8
Zanetti: Solid as ever. This guy is the key of the formation. He makes everyone calm. He is the buffer to our defence. Did well today. 7.5
Nedved: Did well in both halves especially offensively in the second one. Assisted the PK, was the source of most of the goals. 8
Del Piero: Just came back from international duties and is going back again there. 3 games in one week is alot. Yet he was quite creative. In the first half he played well. assisted the goal with an amazing curled cross which went straight to Trezeguet's head. Played a nice freekick by Amellia did a great job to knock it off. In the second half the game needed a faster player plus he was getting tired. 7
Trezeguet: Did what he is supposed to do.. Hattrick.. 8.5
Iaquinta: Very impressive debut.. Was the cause of the PK, and converted it nicely, scored a lucky one from a nedved strike. And assisted a goal.. very very good. 7.5
Zebina: No mistakes, did not appear alot. 6
Tiago: Same as Zebina: 6

C. Ranier: Read the game perfectly, and knew his players abilities. Noone could have done it better 9

One last thing.. IT FEELS GOOD TO BE BAAAAACK :) FORZA JUVE PER SEMPRE.
